My last english test, am i fucked?

so yea there was this question about some poem called The Second Coming, aka relating to jesus, and it asks about what relevence the Sphinx might hold in it

i didnt read that poem since most poetry sucks, so i rambled on about some shit and then wrote this:

"on a sarcastic note, they could be related since the Jews killed Jesus, and it was said that Jewish slaves built the pyramids and Sphinx"

think she'll take that as anti-semitism? i just thought it was funny when i wrote it

I dont know, but I'd say that if the test had a question on that poem, you probably should have read the poem... so you're probably fucked, yeah.

You're fucked because you included the introdcutory, dependent phrase "On a sarcastic note." Analyzing poetry requires no sarcasm and including Jews in your sarcastic remarks renders you helpless to the forthcoming destruction your teacher will flood your report card with.

I'm sure you're screwed for the test. Reading the poem that a question is on is usually a good idea.

But unless your teacher is a complete ass, I'm sure you'll be fine.

 
Here's an even better one:

The sphinx is half lion. This most definetly relates to the "lost" jewish tribe, known as the Lion of Judah. This tribe, or its modern day equivilent can be found in Ethiopa, where ancient traditional jewish customs are maintained to this very day, with virtually no changes.

We had to read that poem. I didn't get anything jewish out've it bro. Maybe if you wouldn't have included the 'on a sarcastic note' part, you could've just gotten away with shitty comprehension. But I think it's safe to say you didnt get much credit for it.

she told us that out of the 25 or so poems we read, the test wasnt gonna be on them, it was gonna be about poetry in general, shes like "if there are any questions on the poems they will be very general and relate to poetry" then she made two questions about specific poems and they were worth total of 30 points, what a hoe

i haven't read the poem, but maybe its the fact that Jesus rose from his tomb when people thought he was dead, and a sphinx rises from it ashe....wait, wrong animal

uhh yeah that poem is by Yeats.. and the sphinx is from refference to another piece he wrote called the reserection (i think) and he viewed the sphinx as civilized, even tho it should be found as a beast to most ppl. if that helps any haha even tho u already failed.. but we read that with Achebe's Things Fall apart which its title came from second coming.

so you were basically completely wrong.. .. haha but good luck with ur english class

 
in english we have tests on reading we do...and i get a higher grade reading sparknotes than other kids do reading the actual book. i feel kinda bad but then i realize i don't really care.

on the first test, the question was what is literary canon and i got full credit and a smilie face for writing

a weapon developed by the navy that shoots hard cover textbooks at high rates of speed through a 50mm tube, actually i have no idea sorry for wasting your time

^^^ in like 7th grade i was in science olympiad and i had no clue what i was doing in some event and i wrote a 3 page essay on my dog and got 2nd... it had nothing to do with the topic
