So, I'm graduating in May. I'm going to work for the Summer and then in September, see the US. Here's what I'm planning.

I'm a veteran of many roadtrips, and I can tell you for sure that thats going to suck. Get more destinations and side adventures. Summer is great for camping, so do some national parks and all. You arent going to see the US by just driving on its highways, you need to get off them to see what its really about.

Just my two cents anyways. Next year, its Seattle to Baja. Then Seattle to Lake Titicaca. Legacy.
 
im sure he is gonna stop on the way to see the sights. He picked the most direct ways that still have him going throughsome major cities and hotspotrs.
 
what are you driving there? Be sure to have extral oil,a fix a flat/spare tire, emergeny kit,you dont want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere. On your first leg you will be in open roads, thas when youget to see what your car/suv/truck can do!
 
i disagree, LA is much more city and urban feeling, i also think its much dirtier. SD is very relaxing and less crowded, just chillin on the beahc. just my $.02
 
so in 15 days roughly you think gas will rise another $1.50 to a total of $4.50? i think ur just trying to act hardcore with these numbers.
 
i think he is just being carful with his estimate, its not bad to have too much money, but its bad if you were to rn out.

Also,you should make a blogof your travels with pics andeverything,that'd be SWEET!
 
Yeah, I revised what I wanted to do last night, I think Ill drive to Yellowstone first, enter at the north entrance near cooke city mt and spend a few days there before heading south to san diego. I guess the new trip would look something like this:

I definitely would be considering all the requirements that my truck would have...it's a '05 Toyota Tacoma, 4 cyl with only 28,000 miles on it now, so I know I can put this high mileage on it now without worrying too much. I'd be living out of a tent and would be hitting costco up before I left for canned food, water which I could put in the extended cab of my truck. I'd figure the rest of the expenses would come out of more food along the way, some tolls and camping fees. I think I'm going to rely on walmart parking lots for some of the trip through the states cause some allow you to camp in their lot overnight.

As far as canada and gas, I'm going to see what I could do about filling up my truck as well as some additional gas containers so I'm not paying too much in Canada. I figure I'll save at least 500 bucks if I do that.

The reason that I'm doing this is cause I'm graduating this may, I don't want to enter the work world quite yet and I hate to fly.

And the reason for the estimated 4.50 a gallon is that its predicted to be that much at the end of the summer traveling season when I go in september.
 
and when I'm in san diego, that way I could hit up Tijuana Mexico. So in 40 days, I'd would have hopefully driven through numerous states on 12000-13000 miles of roadway through 3 countries.
 
Because that's what it's supposed to be predicted at when the end of the summer rolls around.

And good idea (who gave a link) about that book, I'll check it out.
 
i have a cross country road trip coming up in the beginning of june. heading back to VT, can't fucking wait
 
every year i go on a road trip we usually do the east coast of the states just cuz we live on the east coast.

so we go to lake placid and camp..we go to philly, washington DC, charleston, st.augustine, ft.lauderdale and then the keys.
 
I have a friend in San Diego that will let me crash with him for a week. I'll probably want to hit up Tijuana while I'm there.
 
diont try to buy any drugs though,cause there are undercovers everywhere, along with the cope on dirtbikes in class 2 body armor wiht H&K MP%s, last thing youwant is to end up in a mexican jail.
 
buy some big jerry cans and fill them up as your filling your truck up. then only pay for the truck. if someone hassels you just be like

"HOLY SHIT MAN I BEEN DRIVIN THIS WHORE FOR 3 DAYS BEEN UP FOR 5... SORRY D00D THEN PAY"

remember its not stealing its forgetting to pay.
