Titanium is not any harder or stronger than steel, it just weighs less. Therefore its superior in situations where it is used to save weight structurally, but for sheer impact and hardness, steel is better

how the ski is put together:

base (ptex)

edges

fiberglass

core

fiberglass

carbon fiber

and of course the sidewalls, but i don't remember when we put those on, i guess too much fiberglass resin fumes killing my brain cells.

Carbon fiber is just that, a fiber. Its a cloth that is woven, and then made structural with the use of a resin, exactly like fiberglass. You could make a nice 'edge' with it, but it would just wear down with skiing, cause it'd just be like having a resin edge. it wouldn't work.

Ski edges are tempered or hardened steel or whatever. Very hard, but brittle.

So the top sheet is gonna be carbon fiber? If so that would make a sicker ski to put stickers on :)

Just sorta trying to do a little feeler here:

How many of you would be interested in purchasing a pair if they were made available for:

$500?

$400?

$300?

We are tossing around the idea of producing a number of pairs this summer, if there is enough interest. There would most likely be two lengths, 170 and 180, with the same dimensions.

yeah, tha brings my thinking of k2 up quite a bit. nice job on those, they look sick. judging by some of the posts, you might have yourself a company buddy. of course, youll need a new name, like ghetto skis or something, cause stumpysticks is kind of weird

i would honestly love a pair. i don't have much $$$ though, but I honestly would love to support you and test out what look to be sick skis.

I'd love to give those skis a shot....... depending on the price, i'd be interested in buying any pair you'd be willing to sell.

just out of curiousity, what's the weight and turn radius of the boards? i'm an east coaster, so i'd like to make sure they'll turn.

dude....$500?! That's a rip. I could make you a pair for $300 tops. It would have to be during the late spring or summer though.

i would maybe think of buying a pair for 300$ becaus ei am in Canada, so it liek 450-500 Canadian.....anwyas eveyrone who is making custom skis seems to be making super fattties, so for my first pair of customs i think i am gonna make some super flexxxie park skis. I am also gonan tyr making the tip and tails as light as possible ( so its easier to spin)...i am thinking of length 178 or somehitng....but i haven't gone throuhg any other demensions yet. I am also going to put some ahh i forgot the name, but things to stop the ski from bending side to side.....if those skis work ok okay, i'll start making some niice stiffer fattties. So you used the carbon fiber because it made you skis a lot stiffer with a lot less work? and i guess it dind't add as much wieght as some other options....tiiiizzzight.

the carbon fiber is mainly a cool factor.

It is stronger than fiberglass, and lighter for the same stiffness. But I didn't do pre-preg, so I didn't get a HUGE weight savings (that would require vacuum bagging and autoclaving)

It just makes the ski look really nice, and has EXCELLENT flex properties (although this first one is probably a little too stiff, it has a lot of rebound)

ARTINGE-------if someone knocks on your door and askes to see your slong because there is a crazed slong moneky paintintg, don't show it to him, it is just a Scan, he really only wnats to see your stuff.
