My helmet saved my life

We all know that helmets are good at protecting you from head injuries but mine straight saved my life. The other day, trying doubles in the pipe i decked and then flat bottomed. When i flat bottomed i whip lashed and hit my head pretty hard. I ended up blowing up my poc fornix which i was told was near impossible. Just thought i'd share this with everyone here, and how important helmets actually are.

good to hear you're alright man. i lost a good buddy to a head injury and he wasnt wearing a helmet. i try and preach helmet use to everyone. they are literally a lifesaver.
 
I recently got knocked out and concussed pretty bad. I couldn't imagine that crash with no helmet. I'd probably be saving up for a Stephen Hawking style wheel chair.
 
Yeah it was fucked. I'm lucky. Really lucky. Helmets are cool, and I would probably be on the hospital if I was wearing a Bern or any subpar helmet. So not only is wearing a helmet important it's wearing a helmet that is going to protect you against shit like this
 
Glad to hear you're all right after that fall, looked like some wild shit. Not only that, but I respect that dub a lot, props homie, wish you the best of luck getting it down. Definitely hit up POC about this, for a fall that gnarly im sure theyll hook you up in more ways than one.
 
damn that was crazy! good thing you're okay though. i've slammed my head in my receptor bug a few times (nowhere near that hard!) and i know that my poc saved me from getting hurt.

Wow, so glad you were wearing a helmet. While that is incredibly scary these are great threads to bring awareness. I would dare say if you weren't wearing a helmet you would be dead or nearly so
 
Much appreciated. I should probably be in the hospital right now but I'm not. It's absolutely amazing that people still ride without helmets when something so simple can save you in more ways than one. I'm also very lucky I was wearing my back pad during this crash. Without those things I can't imagine I would have gotten up and walked away. And thanks to these simple things I'm able to continue to push myself and feel comfortable.
 
Straight walked away all good. My bell was rung for sure but nothing that set me back more than a day. More than anything the only thing that really hurt was my lower back.

And yes, it was a poc back protector.

Glad to hear you're okay. Looked like a pretty gnarly crash.

POC helmets and back protector have saved my life too. Definitely not over-rated pieces of safety equipment.
 
Damn man, glad to hear you're okay, that's really heavy.

In November I hit my head pretty hard, knocked myself the fuck out and broke my wrist.

Though my helmet was on, I still incurred a hemorrhagic contusion. After seeing that, I had no doubt that it saved my life.

Wear a helmet.
