My Hardrive Died.....

Hi,I have a macbook pro, 15 inch running snow leopard (sorry i don't have all the tech specs right now) and starting today i was getting all of these so called kernel panics, which is where you get an error screen something like this:
Kernel_Panic-1p0f.png

I used the disk utility and verified that the problem was in fact with my hard drive
Now it won't even boot up, and is making these weird "beeping" noises.I tried booting it on the snow leopard disk but had no such luck.also tried booting in safe mode. didnt work.
So i have given up on trying to turn it on and fix it by booting on a different drive
Tommorow I will take it to the apple store and see what they can do. I am pretty pissed because none of my stuff is backed up (i know, im a moron). Although i have hope that they will salvage my files
Assuming that they have no such luck, does anyone know of a place or service that i can send my computer to, that might be able to repair my hard drive, or get my files off of it???
Thanks alot (yea i know that turned out to be long)Reed

i feel for you man. my friends imac HDD died at the end of the summer. he was almost done editing my promo too. lost a whole seasons worth of footage. if you talk to apple theyll be like pay $400 and wel put in a terabyte HDD for you. fuck them and buy it for $80 and install it yourself.

I had 2000 songsalot of old footy, some after effects titles i madeschool work
i really hope that they can fix this thing, if not im screwed
If apple cant do it, im sure i'll find someone else that can... any recomendations?

same thing happened to me about a month ago. I reformatted my hard drive and everything was back to normal afterward. When i called apple they said that was the only thing i could do to fix it. Luckily i had everything backed up so i just restored everything with my backup drive. There is a chance that you have something different so definitely call them up.

I just had 2 hard drives fail simultaniously but I run windows and linux and restored both of them. I bought another drive to run a raid mirror so I don't have the problem again. I run a business of my computer so I'm not taking any more risks.

I do have a program you can try if you have access to another computer capable of burning an iso cd.

I FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Somehow this morning i was able to boot up on the snow leopard install disk, so from there i used the disk utility to repair the hard drive.
It is working perfectly now, im so stoked
I am definitely buying a backup drive after seeing how crazy i got thinking i had lost all of my files
thanks for the responses guys
Reed
