What Nick is doing is attempting to play on people's emotions to fund his own vacation, and make himself feel important. He fell short of actually lining up any sponsors, getting any donations to charities, or even setting an attainable goal. Rather than admit failure anywhere along the way, he just keeps pressing, redefining his "goal" at each subsequent failure so that he can continue finding a tiny little bit of fame and getting others to fund his vacation.
Nick is obviously a loser who can't figure out what to do in life. Like many others, he came up with a wild, crazy idea to do something "for the greater good," so as to feel a sense of accomplishment and to be important. He does not seem to have any friends who will help him at all, so he's just taking advantage of whoever he finds along the way. He has no shame and has managed to whore himself out to a newspaper and radio station, finding a few feeble-minded folks to fund him and assist him for short periods of time, enabling him to keep on partying.
I have zero respect for him. He did no research, did no training, and set off with no plan, instead fully intending to take advantage of everyone he meets along the way. So far, for the first week or so, he has found enough suckers, even though he has completely failed at his goal. South Africa is a land of very rich white folks (Afrikaaners), who, quite frankly, like other white folks. I've spent a significant amount of time there and understand this. Once he leaves SA behind (if he ever does), things will change.
If he really wanted to help others, he should have gotten a job and donated his earnings. But then, work is so much harder than championing a "cause." Zero respect.

I'm honestly curious.
Yea for pay for my vacation 2018. I'll keep tuning in to see how little he runs, and how far he gets exploiting the kindness of others.
