my freakin feet shrank and now i need new boots

yeah so i bought boots at the beginning of 02-03 season, and this year i've been slipping around in them a lot, so i tried on some boots yesterday and it turns out i now wear a 28 instead of a 29. so, it looks like i'm in the market for some new boots. so......

1080, xwave8, or pro model? (nothing but salomon will do). i'm well aware of all their technical specs, i'm just not sure how much dough i'm gonna have, and how important a moldable liner is to me.

what i AM worried about is if i'm going to have to get my bindings remounted, or if there is enough play in salomon bindings so that i can just tighten the screw to make it fit, or if i'm going to have to get them remounted. any help would be appreciated, and if you have skied any of the three above mentioned boots, please offer suggestions. i have xwave6's right now, and the 75 flex just isn't cutting it anymore when i'm out of the park

I really doubt your feet shrank, your boots liners probably just got packed out.

I am really happy with my salomon promodels, they fit great and I still havn't even had them heat molded or gotten in soles yet. But definately choose the boot that fits the best and feels the best on your foot. Why only Salomon though? You should try on a few different brands and decide which fit the best.

Your boot liner probably did pack out but if your feet are measuring smaller then it has to be something other than just your liners packing out. Its probably because youre a huge gaper and have been wearing boots to big for you the past 2 seasons.

A friend of mine has to wear 2 different sized boots cuz his feet are 2 completely different sizes but thats not to uncomon!

Pete is currently sulking around Mt. Hood, shooting with Poor Boyz Productions and hitting on Kristi Leskinen. She hates guys, Pete lamented, so it’s not going good. Apparently Canada isn’t the only thing that’s tough for Pete to get into.

Your bootfitter sucks.

Find a good boot shop. You can usually recognize them; they're the ones that carry a lot of race equipment.

Go to that shop and listen. Then go to another shop and listen. Then go to a third and listen. Then pick the one you like the most and buy boots there. If you're on a budget, there's still options for you.

Last thing: If you either have to go to too small or too big, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS go too small. You can punch out toe boxes, crush liners, cut liners, grind shells, whatever, but you can't make a boot that's too big fit properly.

While I still give a fuck, I'd like to inform you that there are no fit differences between an Xwave 8 shell and a 1080 shell. the Xwave 8 shell is stiffer, and the liner is better, but fit wise, same thing.

The Pro Model is based on Salomon's Course last. Narrower, less volume, even more precise fit. Great boot, it's a shame it doesn't fit me.

some shops carry raisers, not the kind you put on the skis but its pretty much an insole that you stick in your boot until your feet grow again (if they do).

you probably wont have to remount your bindings, you can just move the heelpeice a little forward by raising this metal thing thast under where you ajust the din of your heelpeice, thats what i did with my s810's when i got a smaller pair of boots to fit me better

no seriously though, they fit me fine for the last two seasons, fit great on the last day i skied last year, and they've felt too big since the first day this year.....i also used to wear size 11 shoes and the last couple pairs i've bought have had to be 10's because when i try on shoes in my old size they are too big. but i'm sure they are packed out quite a bit and that has something to do with it, since they do have like 100 days on them.
