My france trip

I'm going to France this summer, and I was wondering if it would be worf it to go down to Grenoble and hit up alpe d'huez or deux alpes.

Have any of you been there? Should I go for some skiing" Or just stay up in Paris/Loire valley/Normandy.

I'd only have a week for skiing.

yeah i go every summer because i have a chataue in france but i ski mont blanc and usually la clusaz and that stuff its gnarly!

Le Duez Alps is dope..

try and check out Val D'isere or Chamonix if you get a chance

Anywhere in the Trois Vallees is going to me great as there is so many places you can ski

debes ir alli y debes esquiar alli porque no hay muchas cosas hacer alli cuando no hay mucha nieva

there is no summer skiing in Alpe d'Huez anymore. That glacier is gone.

DEFINTELY go to Les 2 Alpes. It's retardedly cheap and the park is massive. They have so much shit set up it's rediculous, and then in the afternoon you can take your skipass and chill at the pool.

@Silence227: n00b, he's talking about summer. And Trois Vallées is the worst place in the alps.

Well i fucked that one up - I got my seasons mixed up as my summer is your winter..

As for the 3 Vallees, i quite enjoyed Courchevel in the Winter.

For me, not all skiing is about parks - Sometimes the village atmosphere adds to the experience, as does the terrain. What you like and what i like are surely going to be different..

I'd probably hit Val D'isere if i was in france and wanted a glacier to hit in the summer

Why do I get the impression that you don't have a clue what you're talking about?

Val d'Isère summer skiing, this is the glacier end of july 2006:

ya, last year they had to close it's glacier almost immediately after opening it. No park. 1 tiny draglift. Ya definitely go on advising people this is the place to be in the summer!!!!

to give u a comparison this is ZERMATT end of july:

im not claiming I know shit..

I'm only talking about where i have been and what i thought of it (not what i heard)- i havent hit any of europe in summer, but as far as im aware there are only a few glaciers in france which are open during summer, of which one is Val Disere (and i thought it was open for a longer period than others and was higher and with more snow than others..)

As for Zermatt, the thread is about France - clearly Zermatt is better...The guy might as well go to New Zealand if he wants some summer snow.

I dont particularly care about this at all - my original post was regarding winter, which was my bad..

You sound like you know all about this, so go and tell the man what he needs to know

this is a better view from Val d'Isère's summer skiing in july:

this is Tignes in august:

yo man sorry to diss u, especially not u personally. just lots of people lately who are from england/australia/whatever giving the strangest advice about the alps and making the boldest claims completely opposite to the facts. No offense to u.

what the guy needs to know has already been posted: he should go to Les 2 Alpes. it is sick.

if you can't find a cheap place to stay at les 2 alpes, find a slum hostel in grenoble. i was in grenoble for the winter and its a crappy city but you can take a bus to 2alpes (2hour ride) for 10 euro round trip. 2alpes is rad.

there's no cheaper place than 2 alpes.

grenoble will most definitely be more expensive than les 2 alpes.

if u contact the tourist office you can rent an appartment for a week for almost no money.

if u don't know where to stay stay at the Sick & the Mental.

yeah they have a madd park in la clusaz thats open all year, like laurent favre skis there and all these really hard hitting french skiers its sick

No. What?

Most of the winter La Clusaz doesn't really have a park, just during the invitational, and of course it's not open year-round. La Clusaz is the home town of many great French skiers like Candide and Lolo, but they ski in a lot of places most notably the nearby Avoriaz which is the birthplace of freestyle in Europe.

couldnt disagree more:

the val glacier is in the summer, the best time is now for it, same with tignes.

the three vallees is shit in the winter, so i cant see how it would be good in the summer, i was massively disappointed by meribel last season, the skiing is endles motorway skiing, gets fairly boring after a while, there was very limited challenging terrain although the moonpark was alright
