My first ever backflip :D

Would i need to focus on not rotating as much, would i not have over rotated if it was onto snow?

just do it, seriously these threads are soooooo many of these threads. Just huck it and don't be a bitch and you'll most likely land on your feet.

Good advice. And sorry, i just wanted to know what this looked like in you more advanced guy's opinions.

Do the exact same thing. Go into it with the mindset that you are in the same amount of danger as you were hitting the airbag. Which is pretty low since you're going to land it.

I mean, if there was a normal landing instead of an airbag, you probably could have landed a double with how fast you were rotating.

yeah, but I rotated a little extra so i wouldnt catch my tips and die, I think i could easily calibrate for that. and plus, i had just adjusted my DINS but made them wayyyyy to high, i was going to re-adjust them, and then my friend lost my screwdriver -_-.

most definately fix your dins before you try any more crazy shit.

I was doing backies on the airbag in whistler last season but i have been to scared to try on on snow after i underrotated my first attempt, next pow day, shit is going down :)

Congrats man, i remember learning them last season but i went right to snow. scary at first untill you do one.

here, watch and see

For my first do I want to throw my head way back or set the rotation with my legs, brining them up towards my chest?

Do your first one on snow on like a back country jump with a soft landing. Threw my first ever one on the first day of the season/claim. You just can't think about it. In all reality its a really easy trick. And also the steeper the lip on the jump the easier it'll be.

throw your head back and look for your landing as fast as possibble, thats the scary part over. once you see your landing whip your feet around andb stick it

but dont look back to fast or you'll hit your head on the lip

personally think airbags are more dangerous, at least in my experience have had a lot better luck on snow than into a bag just more of a gimmick. water ramps are where it's at though

This might be a stupid question....did it hurt catching your tips and faceplanting? I heard someone describe it as really not that bad a while ago, but its the part that scares me the most. I can do backflips onto an airbag all day long but I'd love to do it on snow.

I find that i only do backflips on certain kickers (aka ones big enough). I don't like to really huck it and throw my feet and head at the same time. I prefer to pop, throw my head back, spot the landing and then bring my feet round. In my opinion this also looks nicer.

Nope, didnt hurt at all. i just superman'd down the landing and was fine. like many have said, just fully commit and you'll be fine

if your afraid about catching your tips, make sure you DINS are lowered, because when i caught em they were way too high and tails hit my helmet, i dont remember what actually happened, but i walked away with a headache, but it didnt really hurt.

I tried it into powder first as you don't hurt yourself if you catch you tips. When i was learning them i also tried one out of a half pipe, i caught my tips and winded myself so in my opinion powder is a good place to try them.

Sweet, im going on an overnight school ski trip soon, i know im going to hurt myself, its going to be dope.

if the snow ever fucking comes, I think there isnt going to be a winter this year :( its going to suck

you rode away on the airbag, and that only happens when you stomp your trick. you will be fine on snow
