My edge is cracked :(

So yeah, I've been riding rails in the park a lot this year and my edge has finnally cracked. I want to repair but am having trouble coming up with a solution. Right now my plan is to get some JB weld inbetween the ski and edge and clamp it in there till it is solid then sand down any excess.

Any suggestions... like clip the part of the edge that is ripped off, or special bonding agent, or ride it like it is, or shoot myself in the foot and get new skis?

Thanks

you should be fine man. what skis are they??? the edge should stay in for quite some time. i have never thought about welding edges but it might work...not sure...u might end up melting the edges worse...pm me with specifics.

ohhhhh noooooooooooo A CRACKED EDGE!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh get new skis asap before they explode and you die!!!!

it doesn't matter.

wait is the edge just cracked, or is it actually torn out? cuz I thought you meanted it was cracked till i saw what you said about clipping it...

my friend has a pair with no less than 5 edge cracks between the skis and he still uses them for park

you'd be surprised how little that actually affects the skiing. like if its for a park ski it really doesn't matter that much. Last spring I rode tuckermans on mt washington with some troublemakers with a tone of edge missing. it sucks on ice, but dull edges suck on ice too so whatever. I wouldn't deem your skis totalled just cuz you ripped out some edge.

ya i got 3 cracks on my AR5's and they have been fine, but i have a question? would sodering your edges help or would it just pop out?

no, cut it out, file down the ends so they dont catch. if you really wanna go full out, you can build an epoxy edge which will hold up on rails. what you do is build a lil mould on the edge that you can pour into. once it dries, peel off the mould, and sand the base and edge of the epoxy down to meet everything else. it works fine. the mould can just be packing tape on cardboard or something, just clamped to the ski on the side or base.
