My edge asploded!

Well not quite. I'm skiing an almost brand new pair of 185 Volkl Bridges. When I went in for lunch today, I noticed one of my edges was protruding pretty far from my ski. My base sheet appears to be a little splayed out too. I went in to talk with a couple ski shop guys and although they were next to useless, one said that I probably can't warranty them because it looks like it could be rock damage.

What should I do? Can it be fixed or should I take my chances with Volkl?
 
Is there any way I can check that Vokl will replace them without sending them in? They're my only skies at the moment and I really don't want to be out for a while just to have them shipped back.

How long does that take anyway?
 
no way you can get a yes/no answer on edge/base damage without having them inspected
 
Its worth a call to volkl. Ask them if you can fix them and then send them back at the end of the season. I had some volkls that were missing core material under the edge (factory defect). They let me ride them all season and I got a new pair the next year.
