So ns my 14 year old golden retriever is leaving me today.

I've had her since I was 5 years old and I really can't imagine life without her.

So I'm just wondering if any of you guys have had this happen recently and how you got over it?

Thanks.

Sucks dude. Dogs are always awesome so it is really shitty when they die. Do something cool for the dog

Its always hard to lose a pet, but time will heal the wound. Just remember the times you had, 14 years is a good life.

vibes man, losing a dog is just as hard as losing a human, sometimes worse.

adopt yourself a new dog if you can find a good one.

Sorry to hear that man my girlfriends dog got put down a little while ago and she was heartbroken, but your dog probably lived a good long life, it's hard but it's better to do it that way then let it live and be in pain

think about all the good times you had together. Truth is, you're being a responsible loving owner for putting her down when its time and she won't suffer. +vibes

Wow. I feel really bad for you man. My golden is 14 and a half and I've had her since I was 6. That really has to be tough. I'm at school and always think about her and how shes doing. +++vibes man. Hang in there

it sucks. for me, the build up to it was the worst. once she was gone, it was nice to know she wasn't suffering.

I've bee there man, was sucha sad day for me. The good part about it is you can always get a new dog with time. But for now, just let it sink in. Its alright to be bummed out about it and expected. +vibes.

it's a sad day for you, but within a few days/weeks you'll get over it

my dog died while i was in new zealand, i went skiing to clear my head and it worked wonders

Sorry dude, that's the worst. What helps me is to remember that dogs don't fear death the way people do, they only understand that they are in pain and not feeling well right now. Ending that suffering in a peaceful way is honestly the kindest thing you can do for her, even though it's hard for you. Plus 14 is a good long life for a bigger dog, it's her time. Vibes though, it sucks so much losing a dog.

I remember when my 8 year old guinea pig passed away. Its very hard to get over ill give you that. All you have to remind yourself of how much food times you spent together.

thats a long life dude. you should be stoked that you had her around for so long.

we had to put my golden retriever down a couple summers ago at age 9 since she was having really bad heart problems. so shitty. she was getting progressively worse, to the point where medication couldn't control seizures she had been having and she was having a really really bad seizure pretty much every day. after the last one, she was hurting so bad she couldn't even move. she laid on the floor for hours, unable to conjure the energy to even wag her tail, and i just laid on the floor with her, teary-eyed just patting her. we just kind of looked at each other and i could see that she was suffering. shortly thereafter, the fam took her to the vet and that was that. sad times man, but life goes on. just try not to think about times without her, think about the happy times you had with her..

my dog of 12 years died when i was a senior. it was really rough, he was my best buddy. i still miss him a lot, but i'm sure he's up in dog heaven chasin' bitches and killin' bees and not giving a fuck like the badass he was.
