i went to the doctor after i fell and he said i tore my ligament in my thumb completely and scheduled surgery for this friday....i went for a second opinion cuz my thumb got better and now i dont need surgery.....the first doctor is a LIAR!

fuck doctors man, I broke my right thumb twice and tore the shit outta my left one once, it just heals with a splint

i kinda had a story like that. i overshot a table and pushed my tibia through my growth plate in my ankle in March 03, then that summer when i was in whistler it began to hurt like crazy so i went to the Whistler doc, who took X rays and said that the space between where my doctor put the pin and my bone was so close that i shouldnt even be running with it like that and said it would collapse if i landed hard ever and would fuck my leg up royally... i went back to my local doctor who did everything and said that dude was crazy... he was right because i skied for a full year and a half since then and its fine

Not all doctors are the same. Anyways, I think my right thumb is broken but I'm not going to bother with fixing it. It still works somewhat and something that isn't broken shouldn't needed to be fixed.

hey little freerider, just so you know the other doctor could have been right, by fuck it up royaly he meant, infiltrate into your growth plate, which probably wont hurt but will stop or ihibit the growth of that leg.

some doctors are just stupid... i went to this dude for some nerve damage, and hes like, what did you do to your elbow? and im like nothing. and then hes like no, com on, you can tell me... so i tell him, i swear it was nothing, i woke up one morning, my hand went numb and it never came back, thats all... and he wouldnt believe me.

i rolled my ankle reeley bad once, and one doc said i couldn't do anything for two weeks, the other said do w/e u feel like you can do, i was skiing in 2 days

3 years ago i went to the doctor because i thought i messed my left knee up, he said my acl was torn, the physical trainer at my high school said it was torn, but then the guy who was going to do the surgery said it was just way stretched out and i should give it a lil rest. just coincedently that summer at ski camp i broke both the bones in my lower right leg. but anyway skip to this year, i horribly overshot a jump and hurt my left knee again, went and got it checked out the first doc said it was prob just bruised bone, 2 weeks later and i still couldnt straighten it or anytthing, got it checked out again by another guy and he said it was torn so i finally got my surgery on it, moral of the story, different docs tell you diff things. its just all about finding a good doctor and trusting what he says.

I had three different doctors tell me I had a bone bruise when in reality I had a torn miniscus that I kept trying to play with (college soccer). Instead of getting the short surgery and quick recovery (a week) I missed an entire season with my knee all fuct.

Moral of the story: get an MRI, go to a respected doctor.

im glad you have all graduated med school and become experts. If you did rip your ligament, which is what happen to me, there is a good chance the ligament tore off a piece of your bone. You would need surgery if this is the case, to re attach the bone that is simply floating around. I have heard that if you dont get this done, it may never heal properly and your thumb will be royally fucked up. But yeah dont worry, im sure you know better than your doctor.

I got a concussion from doing switch backs two years ago, landed one on my face. The doc said I'd be fine, my short term memory is shit now and I have to start seeing a neurologist or some shit.

Makes school pretty fuckin hard, not cause I cant figure stuff out, I do..., and then i forget it.

'gamekeeper' or 'skier's' thumb? thats tearing the ulna colateral ligament at the thumb joint, and there is no surgical procedure for it. everyone i know that skis has done it at one point or another, and no one has had surgery. so i'd say the doc is full of it. that or mine was! :) bwahaha...yay for the medical industry.
