Cooked this up today. Had to alter my original design so it took most of the afternoon. Still need to run the VGA cable through the pipe, throw a shade on the monitor, and jb weld it all up. Pretty pleased with the results.

sorry for cellphone photos

I also threw this on to aid in focusing, seeing as I'm too cheap for a follow focus, and too lazy to mess with gears.

thanks brotha, well the monitor(also a portable hdtv, shits got a cable jack) was $89, other than that, I'd say $20-$25? i bought shit in multiple hardware store runs so i'm not sure.

ah l337, glad you showed up. Do you have that shotgun mic from chessycamn? and if so, how's it treating you?

I wanna mount one opposite of the monitor.

It's in the mail :D I'm really excited to get it and test it with my AGC disabled! what monitor are you using, a lilliput?

word, you'll have to let me know how it goes.

It's actually a 7" GPX portable HDTV that I got from fry's for $89 a while back. No HDMI, but it's working out pretty well, tripod mount is super conveniant. Just drilled a hole through a hose clamp and stuck a 1/4" bolt through it and bam, adjustable mount.

And its battery powered?? what a steal! And I will for sure post a review, lot of guys on here could profit from a nice cheap mic.

I got a 2.5" monitor for $89 from B&H and I also am digging it. I made an EVF before red rock and the other big guys made overpriced ones!

how do you hold it? it looks like the handle is on the wrong side if you look at the way the monitor is facing...

yeah it's re-chargeable, pretty stoked on it.

Yeah definitely looking for reasonably priced mic.

And I was thinking of making one, just too damn lazy hah.

damn soo sick!! you did a ballin job, get that mic on there and that thing is complete! so cheap too damn!!

thanks my man.

Here's better pics of the now finished product. Cable is very neatly tucked away inside the tubing, and I made a shade for the monitor out of some cardboard and a straw.

so legit dood killin it, stoked to see more pictures of this beast! my only question is can you just reach the 'follow focus' with your left hand while still gripping the sides? or how does that work?

I am going to try and recreate this, saw that posting on cheesy cam but i think yours looks better!

if I'm holding it by the top handle I can reach it easily, It's a little bit difficult holding the sides but not impossible.
