My dads work screwed me in the butt with healthcare

Ok so my dad's work just straight out told everyone that they had decided health care was too expensive and unnecessary or some shit and that starting in '10 they are just getting rid of it. Now this sounds like a load of BS. This means that any family relying on this healthcare with an illness of some kind can't get covered for that illness if they switch companies because it would be a preexisting condition. My mom's work has sucky healthcare that only covers life threatening accidents. WTF?

OBAMA OBAMA!!

Haha just kidding. But really, that sucks. Get a federal job. Not a shitty one like mailman but something tight. My dad was a federal agent for INS (well I guess ICE now) and we had ballin health care.

Naw he's a supervisor at a die cast company. makes like $30/hour. It's just the people running it are rich dumb asses.

It's most likely the "rich dumbasses" are facing the choice of laying off a hefty amount of people ( which could include your dad), or keep them and make cuts in order to stay in business and enable people to still put food on their families tables. I know you want to rant, I would be pissed too, but in today's economy loads of companies are faced with similar decisions, and if I was the owner of a company, I would have done the same thing. Maybe this is not the case, but I would bet that it is and sometimes there is no other choice.

No I've met the dude that made the decision and he's actually an idiot but yeah there were probably some other reasons. Everyone just got back from being laid-off so they probably need some extra dough but that's still fucked.

It is fucked, and if he is an idiot then there isn't much that can be done about that. think of it this way tho, people, the workforce, are assets, extremely important ones. As an owner, you do not want to liquidate those assets, for they are what enables your company to run and make profit. So if by removing extraneous expenses ( healthcare ) you can keep your workforce intact and hopefully stay in business until you can again afford to provide healthcare for the workforce, then it would make sense to do so. I don't know if that's the situation, but it seem pretty plausible. Just out of curiosity, what company does you dad work for?

well judging from the title of this thread it seems like you just got a prostate check, a common medical procedure. but it was odd your dads work was checking your prostate with healthcare and not the thumbs. did not read OP

hahahahha yeah, there's a great idea. When you get there and don't like it, you could always join the Canadians flooding into their second Summer residences in Florida, which they own partially to qualify for US healthcare.

would you rather you dad have a job and no healthcare? or no job at all?

cause it very well could have come down to that when the company was making its decision.

your fucking ignorant.

My parents own a house in Florida, as do many of their friends. non of them do it for the health care. who wants to pay thousands of dollars for something they could get for free here?

all the shit you guys get fed about how bad canadian health care is, thats all propaganda. ive never had to wait more than a few hours, or known anyone who has gone without anything they've needed.

jesus christ, dont buy everything you see.

do you follow me around in every healthcare thread? lol

i know that you know that i know that we both disagree on healthcare. haha

its not a right in my book.

pretty sure that job is going to put food on the table and a roof over their head. they will have to improvise on the healthcare front. as mentioned above, his moms healthcare was not as good as his fathers. but ide be willing to bet if they were willing to pay for it, it would greatly reduce, or prevent the likelihood of them going bankrupt.

Well seeing that your dad is making $30 an hour at a manual labor workplace, Im sure he is in a union which will get the health benefits back

yup, thats why I would be surprised that they dont go on strike or force the company to fork over benefits, but I dont want to start a political debate

but dude, healthcare doesnt need reform! your dads no doubt just a lazy sack of shit and needs to pull himself up by his bootstraps. tell him to stop looking for government handouts.

I concur with Ben...ahahhaha. Healthcare certainly needs refom, but fuck this public option shit. Looks like it won't pass either, Leiberman aint votin for it.

you are absolutely right. i mean its clear, everyone who doesnt have healthcare is either a drug addict shitball, or chooses not to. anyone who doesnt have healthcare doesnt deserve it, because they clearly arent working hard enough.

after all, ill bet the OP's dad has never worked a day in his life. how dare he try and take my taxpayer dollars!

what? how many canadians do you know that own a summer res in the states, let alone in fucking florida? cause i've never met the type.

waiting at a hospital sucks, waiting at a clinic is fine, and going to your doctor is perfect. really, the only thing we have a problem with is the wait time at a hospital in emergency, but there are options if you don't have an emergency. also, i've found the easy way to bypass waiting times at a hospital: make yourself puke everywhere. then they start freaking out and rush you to the doctor.

yup, as you know my dads a manager for NW/Mesaba, and he has some shitty employees hes trying to fire, but they are union so no dice

well yeah it's basically all we talk about these days.

"holy shit america might actually catch up with the rest of the world in terms of healthcare."

maybe your posts stick out, idk

i wonder whether you believe the health affairs journal article from Harvard that stated in 2001, over half of the bankruptcy claims came from medical expenses, and that over 3/4 of those medical bankruptcies were filed by people who were insured at the time of their illness -- though they did lose coverage by the end of the bankruptcy.

i think the question of whether health care is a right or not is not important, even though you're wrong ;) the fact is, it's better for the whole to cover everyone than to have people uninsured.

How is my dad a lazy sack of shit because his job is stopping healthcare? You're a window licker I take it. Oh and about the Canada idea, it wouldn't be a bad idea. It's only a couple miles north.

You obviously don't know Ben. Dude is being a sarcastic ass trying to act like a stereotypical Republican douchebag.

hahahhaha, he was basically trying to emulate you, Mr. Panda, not me though, I aint a (R)epublican, conservative, yes, Republican, no.

sorry dude. i thought youd get the sarcasm, i dont think your dads a lazy sack of shit, i feel bad for him.

however what i posted is the conservative/republican mentality

I just meant they don't care about the healthcare, and they aren't the rich ones it's their wives.

canada= better health insurance
U.S.= better healthcare
better health insurance saves money, better healthcare saves lives
