My dad needs a bit of style help

So here's the story. My dad is a badass/hardcore telemarker and my mom and I have convinced him to get some new gear and not look as goofy just grabbing the cheapest stuff he can find in the nearest gear store or, even worse, the box of his old ratty ski gear. Right now he is updating:-helmet-goggles-poles-skis (need to do well in the backcountry)-anything else
So.. you guys tell me. What looks good with a gray mustache on an old man that will drop any cliff that won't break his hip. This might sound obscure, but he wants new school and I don't want him to take it too far.

for skis I'd suggest something Tua makes but they don't exist anymore. G3 make some sick stuff but kinda pricey.

Hmm... a 50 year old man with a gray mustache? in 6XL? Unless there's some ironic hipster thing going on there, I don't think so...

i dont know if theyre good for teleing but my dad just got shoguns and loves them. also on3p billygoats might be good too. or k2 antipistes

for helmet and gogs go with the same company for both, like get a sweet POC set up or Smith Set up. then, no gaper gap!

Not sure about tele, but my dad has Armada ARV's and likes them. Plus he rocks a black 686 jacket and some Patagonia pants

Can you give me a link because maybe im just an idiot but i could not find anywhere to buy just the shafts. I broke one third day using them and couldnt find anywhere to get a new one so ive been going no poles since.

You probably need to buy him a magic suit, the smallest poles you can find, get him some crowbars and make him sag them, and then get him a quality ski like the burton t-walls.

checked the site and didnt see anything sorry i didnt call and make a huge deal of it but i will now. sorry for the interruption. I dont know much about tele skis but when i worked at EMS Karhu skis were always popular.

For helmet I'd highly suggest Giro, they make awesome stuff. G10 is sick, and the G10 with the visor will make your dad look like a shredder, especially if he teles.
Goggles - a good choice is always the crowbar, super high quality goggle and you can always find parts and lenses.
Poles - If he's doing backcountry riding he'll probably want poles with powder baskets, so take that into consideration. Also try to get the poles with the option to change the length, as those are awesome for backcountry because you can adjust based on your situation (this is assuming he is doing touring, if not then don't bother, just buy normal poles).
Skis - Check out G3. They've been doing the backcountry thing for a looong time, and along with making skis they also make tele bindings and all sorts of other cool stuff. But I wouldn't go just off my suggestion, I know that G3 has a good rep but I'd go ask the folks on TGR about this one, they can help you more.
Outerwear - if he's doing backcountry stuff and touring, he'll probably want the more technical outerwear stuff. Once again, ask the folks on TGR for reccomendations, they know better than I do.

Yeah call em up and talk to a person, or send em an email. Or better yet- go to a shop that has armada stuff and they could order them for you.

dads should have patagonia or marmot shit. goggles maybe some classic oakleys. dont try to make your dad steezy, itll just end up embarassing. my dad wears a yellow columbia, which is pretty common dad wear

all that can be fixed without paying anything. just tell him to put his goggles under his helmet and sag the fuk out of them, sticker job his helmet if it looks like balls and cut his poles in half.

id second all this except the armada poles, though they may make a good park pole, they arent a good skiing pole.

some carbon fiber kermas or something would make much better poles, older banshees are sweet.

and mountain hardwear gloves if hes gonna be out all day in frigid temps.

black diamond has sweet tele skis too

smith variant brim or giro10smith I/0 gogglerossignol s3's. awesome ski for tele 98mm under foot, good flex, and early rise in the tip.orage retallack jkt and gordon pant, nice fit, super tech material.
you can find dad colours in all of those, which is key. you want the guy to be comfortable. if he's got knee sag and retarded bright shit he's gonna put it in a box and wear his old gear.

hook him up with Helly Hansen jacket pants. Smith helmet goggles.

just dont get anything colorful for him

my dad is the same as your dad without the tele part, he will still want to get some stuff that he thinks is cool you just may need to show him what brands and some examples before he tries too

well if he is considering new boots as well, i think full tilts or dalbellos would be good for him. the design is really easy on your shins and feet, especially for someone who is aging. the heat moldable liners are a plus for that factor as well.

for skis i would go with line or armada, the ARV is a great ski for going from groomers to backcountry. just very well rounded. rossi may be a good brand to look at as well.

you can't go wrong with oakley goggles.

for outerwear you could probably consider maybe some of the salomon stuff or some of the solid color oakley jackets and pants.

black diiamond makes some good skis for tele. as for outwear, mountain hardwear, north face or helly hansen are always updated but not teenage steeezz.

i wish my dad would take the iniative to up date his looks, he currently stil skis in jeans with those (idk what theyre called) things that you zip on your legs and run from your ankles to knees. im suprised he doesnt rock the bike helmet while skiing.

After 40 you've earned the right to not have to look fashionable when you're skiing. Your Dad is 50 and he is still hucking cliffs on Teles; he just flat out wins. He could ski in hefty tall kitchen garbage bags and he would still be sick, IMO. From my experience, no one at Bridger gives a crap what anyone else wears. Whatever he ends up buying, just tell him he looks great in it. That's pretty much all that matters and make sure you order one of these for him:
