My concept

ok here is my view on skiing:

I started skiing when i was little and always hated it cause i wanted to snowboard and i tried it and was like ya im cool now and then i saw my first ski do a 540 and i was hooked and now sitting here i see people complain how people dont think skiing is cool or people dont understand what our shirts mean and stuff but look my way cause if skiing hit big like snowboarding we would have poser 11 year olds in baggy pants going down the hill 50-50ing all the boxes like we look at snowboarding thinking wow i wouldnt want to be them well if skiing gets big that is what it will be we stick out which is nice and we are a few number on the slopes which makes what we do crazy. So i hope skiing never explodes just stays the size it is or bigger is fine just not like snowboarding like yeah it would be great for the industry and companies but it would be a poser sport like skiing in the olyimpics could easily do that to skiing. It would be nice to watch it on tv and stuff but then again i dunno. So snowboarding was underground and skiing wasnt popular yet then snowboarding hit big and skiing went underground and skiboards are skiing small but if skiing hits big then i bet skiblades will go underground

so tell me what you think of my concept and see if you agree or not but I do understand it would be nice not to be call names when kids ask if you board and you say you ski but im fine now with that cause i just blow it off and let my skiing do that talking

share your opinions

I find that people in a underground sport always seem to want thier sport to get more popular. Once this happens, everyone then complains about selling out and how the sport has gotten too big.

Keeping our sport a certian size isnt really something anyone can control, there are too many factors and unforseen circumstances which effect its popularity. Skiing will become what skiing will become, and theres piddles you as an individual can do about it.

Personally, I just ski for fun. The sport will become whatever, but as long as I can still have fun while I ski, I could care less. Nobody should be "protecting" skiing or anything, because nobody can honestly say that they own it.

Just ski for fun, because ultimately, thats all that matters.

there are still a few people like you are describing..... but as far as it goes its not to bad... i like skiing the way it is now .... minus all the hate that goes on

its a cool idea because i really dont want sking to go the route of snowboarding, but i thiknk that it is inevidable that it will occcur.

skiing will never be as big as snowbarding. I think it will get bigger and almost be a little brother to snowboarding. But to be on the same level will never occur. Its just the way its been. Like had its time, now its snowbarding and then something new will come along and replace snowboarding. Skiing is just what i like to do and i do it for that reason. Id still ski if skiing became bigger and id still ski if i got smaller. So really who cares just ski

it allready is

very true, i completley concur.

Even thought i would want skiing to become popular, there is to much extra baggage that comes with it, i would rather skiing stay the way it is righ tnow, cause its right on the cusp of everything.

i kinda agree, i just dont want skiing to get too big becaues itll just become another general sport, and i like skiing as it is

Of course I'd like to say that skiing should stay small... but think about all the kids that aren't going to get exposed to this side of skiing, and won't realize how much freaking fun this really is...

Like, I'd say a large percentage of the skiers I know consider skiing to be a passion, or at least one of their very favorite things to do, and I'd be way more stoked to hear that from more people. So many more people could have lives full of stoke and see how fun this whole thing is, as opposed to sitting at home or even being at the hill but racing or some shit.
