He seems very knowledgeable and knows what he is talking about. Don't say stupid things and he wont have to call you out, seriously I don't get why he is so hated. most of the time he's right, he doesn't go about it in the nicest way, but if your feelings are that hurt

Yeah most of the time he's right... "You know your country sucks when...." I'd say he's right about 3 times out of 10 and the times he's wrong he's fucking ignorant, not to mention he's a jackass, he doesn't ski, he likes to piss people off, he's a jackass, he doesn't like his country, he talks mad shit, he is lazy, he complains a fuck load, and the list goes on.

How much experience you do have with this all?I've heard you're supposed to have 200 skydives under your belt before base jumping. But doing the math, that's gotta be like spending 80,000 before trying one. I doubt that many people have 80k to spend on it.

Anyone know how much experience the jumper had?
 
Oh me? I have never done a BASE jump ever...okay maybe once or twice. 200 is a good number so is 12 and so is 1,000. Hell 69 and 420 work too.

I've probably spent upwards of $15,000 on BASE/Skydiving. Gotta pay to play kid. Prioritize in life. Any type of flight is expensive.
 
And at the end of the day, you spend time and energy getting pissed off on the internet toward someone who you've never met. It must suck to let petty things have such control over your life. I think that's the very definition of being a bitch.

everything was correct? all he said was "sometimes parachutes malfunction," then he mentioned reading something about it, then complained that there was no regular speed clip (which there was, but at the end, which IS sorta weird)

how can a post be 100% correct if no information is offered, only condescension?

 
Umm, nope I never wrote that... and I hardly pay attention to base jumping, I'm just not a fucking retard. But then again most of the kids on this site were probably jerking each other off on the kiddy slopes when McConkey and ski base jumping was popular.

This thread is entertaining.

Just to clear the waters a malfunction is having no parachute at all which is about a 99.9% chance you die. I have watched one person hit water from 486 ft with a pilot chute out at line stretch and survive. Talk about thinking oh he just died...wait no... He's alive! Pretty eerie feeling.

A parachute (deploying backwards) opening 180, the canopy still does its job opening, aka not a malfunction, it just faces the wrong way. In fact it's usually a malfunction of the jumper due to body position. Other times it's wind or random factors.

I still think ski BASE jumping is pretty cool. There's some really interesting stuff being done and that had been done but nobody has seen because a lot of the best jumpers are extremely humble and don't need to get approval of their ego from a huge group of strangers. Heath Ordway did a switch misty 9 ski base. Yes...switch...misty...9.

well, apparently that's the jargon-y definition of "malfunction" in the base jumping circle, i was just using the laymen's definition to paraphrase obviously

This made me LOL.

Not sure how you're getting those numbers, but at $23 per skydive (once you have a license) that would be like 3,400 skydives. And if you have that many, you probably didn't pay for all of them. You probably worked for the dropzone teaching people how to skydive.

The jumper in the video has well over 200 BASE jumps, and way more skydives. He is one of the most heads up jumpers I have ever jumped with. But he made a mistake. And mistakes are punished in this environment. In BASE you have to stay on your shit, or suffer the consequences. There was no malfunction of his equipment, sometimes you get an off heading in BASE. If you don't deal with it properly and plan accordingly, then you get fucked. And he fumbled, and got fucked. He is already healing, and planning his next BASE trip.

I have had a dozen 180s in BASE. it happens. Its scary. But if you always leave the object thinking its a possibility then you have a better chance of fixing it before you hit the wall. One thing he did was wear the proper equipment that no doubt saved his life.

And Mitchpee, when are you coming to WA to jump with the Seattle boys? Hurry up, bud!
