Alrigth so my friend went to Camp of champions in the summer. while he was there he ate shit and had to be airlifted to the hospital. and now 6 months later he gets the bill for the helicopter... $3000 fo a 15minute ride to the hospital ! Has anyone ever heard of this happening to anyone? Hes tryed contacting Whistler and they wont do anything about it. Which really sucks.

medical bills dude, welcome to the world

what happened to him, how did he eat shit?

and one last thing.. haha screwed by coc, made me laugh

You're a retard, COC didn't charge you for the heli, the hospital did. Welcome to real life, it's not cheap to fly a heli.

i think in washington anyway most of the helis are operated by the sheriff's office or coast guard or whatever so if you are hurt within ski area boundaries they will pick you up for free (please correct me if i'm wrong). Was it a private ambulance helicopter then?

In no way is it COC's fault, but that's the real world i guess, all encompassing insurance for people who do things like freestyle skiing doesn't exist, and i guess that the helicopter wasn't covered by Canada's socialized medicine (if the guy's canadian)

Yeah dude, happened to me last year when I had to be airlifted after a ski accident.
It sucks, the bills are huge. But without it I, and most likely your buddy wouldn't be here. I think it's worth it.

youre right! helicopters are now free, paramedics are now free, helicopter pilots are now free, gas is now free, and medical equiptment is now free! why the fuck should he have to pay anything for an airlift! fuck camp of champions too because it happened there!

Your buddy did not get screwed over by COC, he is dealing with the reality of getting injured and airlifted by helicopter.

yeah but theres no way in hell it costs 3k for 15 mins. you can rent some beastly helicopters for a 7 day tour heliskiing for like 6 grand. obviously medical isnt included in this cost cause its included in the medical bills heli bills are seperate.

thats his insurance screwing him over, or the retard doesnt have good health insurance and screwed himself over. COC isnt liable for injuries, you hit the jump, you assume the risk, so its his fault he got hurt. its up to his health insurance and the coverage they offer and whats in his plan/what he pays for. if he pays for coverage over a certain $ amount, then they pay most and he pays little. if he goes over that $ amount, sucks for him, he shoulda paid a little more every once in a while.

it sucks, but insurance exists to make money. you should know that by now.

that is why it is a good idea to buy insurance for that one week of skiing in order to save yourself $3000

um my friend had a dirt bike accident (got hit by a 4wheeler) and i think her air lift cost 15,000 or so for about 15-10min ride... so I think he got off cheap...

Regardless of whether you think the bill was a good idea or fair or whatever, this has absolutely nothing to do with COC.

this is why i always travel with my own helo, which is conveniently located on the aft deck of my 81meter megayacht

dude not COCs fault at all, your friend crashed, and needed a heli, not COCs duty to pay for that shit

depends on the insurance... im guessing if it was only 3,000 then that is just what his insurance didnt cover... maybe his deductible

Man getting screwed by COC isnt a big deal... its a lifestyle choice and we shouldnt be judging him....

I got airlifted last year. It cost $15,000, and insurance covered it.

I almost got airlifted when I fell unconscious in Colorado (non skiing) and it would have been free because it was inside a park. The weather was too bad though, and I recovered before they could take action.

im not saying its c.o.c 's fault. his injury wasnt to serious he could have skiied down. but someone suggested the helicopter and he didnt know that he would get a bill for it 6 months later.
