ok, so yah i know there has been alot of broken iPod threads so dont bother with the "search bar and telling me to use it, but the thing is mine is a bit of a different case... so the batterey inside the iPod is super bloated and when i plug it in it doesnt work.... so i'm assuming the batterey is just completely dead, so if anyone has a cluse they think its just the battery? and if any one has an iPod third generation that doesnt work or an iPod 4th gen you think you'd want to see if i could purchase it off you.. even if it doesnt work... if you really wanna help me out i'll pay for the shipping, and if i can find a part that works i'll make it worth your wile... No sexual favours.. unless your a hot chick... and yes i have had a few but yah i wanna get this sucker workin
 
Everytime I turn my iPod on theres an ipod with a x.x face and a hazard sign next to it.
 
When it's disconnected it goes to that screen for like 10 seconds then it turns off.
 
i think i have an old 3rd generationg iPod that doesn't work somewhere around the house. the battery is dead and needs to be replaced. if i find it i'll pm you
 
it like charges and then when i turn it on it stays on for about 3 seconds and then says its out of batteries again
 
i have a quick question if you can do something for me to maybe help out my situation.. try unplugging your battery then plug it into your computer it'll help me out narrowing down whats wrong with this iPod
 
i can fix it for you... thats if you want... i think i might open up an iPod repair shop just cause its simple to fix them... if one thing doesnt work try another... and that i know what it is, cause my iPod did the same now it works fine
 
i also forgot to add and a special for all NS users, i'll offer free help to fix anyones iPod! only thing is you gotta pay for parts... and yah dude, the problem with the 5th gens is that the headphoen jacks just stop so what you gotta do is buy a new peice, and it usually comes wiht the tools to open it... and you can get anythign you really need for iPod repair on eBay

I know this is a really broad question, but what would the price range for parts be...?

I have 2 ipods, a 3rd generation click wheel I think, and a 5th generation which I bought a year ago. I wish I could fix the old one and give it to a friend or something, but to send it in to Apple would cost like $300+ ....
 
my new nano went through the wash yesterday and is completely destroyed.. i have it in a paper bag with silica gel packets to see if it will dry out but its not looking good
 
my itune says it cant read the disk of my ipod. so i cant put on or take off songs. it rediculous
 
I had the same problem with a 4th gen iPod. I got the iPod with the sad face, and nothing happened when i plugged it in to a wall or CPU. All i did was replace the battery ($12.95 on ebay and it came with the tools to do it too), and now it works like a champ!
 
here my ipod storys. ok so i had a 4th gen ipod. after abotu a year of use the clickwheel shitted otu and i had to turn holdo on and off to get it to work so i got sick of it and i stole my bros cuz he never uses his. so i used that for along time with all my music. and then for christmass my dad got me a new 30 gig video and i was skiing with my bro's that day but then i fell and cracked the screen so i bought another old broken 4th gen off one of my firends and replaced the lcd screen on my bro's. just when eevrythign was workin out someome stole my ipod at the mt form my backpack. suckjed soo much balls. not im sitting here with a hagred mp3 player i took appart and manualy turned up the volume on full so i could use wail im skiing. and i jsut got a new cellphoen that plays mp3 so i guess thats smei cool. but yea man ipods suck jsut replace the battery if u can. talk to osmeone in ur school and buy a battery off them its mad easy to replace shit
 
mine broke the other day so i took it apart. I had a hard drive problem so I bought a new 30 gig (i had a 20 gig one before) off of ebay for like 80, hopefully it will work. Will be sooooo much cheaper than buying a whole new ipod
 
comp said it was corrupted, and whenever i turned it on i could hear my hard drive try and spin up and then it would click and then try and spin up again and click and then it would keep doin that till the frowning ipod face came up.

I have the ! Folder and I dont know if its the harddrive or the Logic board i need to replace
 
I think the !folder is saying that it cant read your hard drive...I took the hard drive out of my iPod and i can still turn it on and shit, but as soon as the apple sign goes away i get the !folder icon.
 
its not really all that hard for a hard drive to get messed up....BUT in my case, it was more from physical abuse. Basically, it got really messed up a year ago, no idea, not sure how, wouldn't turn on, stupid frowning face. I accidentally dropped it little bit after that, and voila! it worked...kept workin for about 8 months, the last few months or so it would freeze all the time, act all fucked up. i found that if I hit it against a wall a few times, it would usually start working. It wasnt under warranty so I couldn't send it in, bunch of stupid other shit and ya, eventually it just broke all together. Bought a new one, should be here in a few days! Hope it works!
 
im pretty sure its a hard drive error, if it were a motherboard error i dont think it would turn on or freeze or whatever
 
ipods last a max of 8 months (5th gen video) my buddy got one last february (lsat year), his died in about november...i got mine 2 months after and mine died late december/january
 
it depends on what you want for parts.. and you have a 3rd generation? cause i got one and i think the battery for it is gon but i'm not sure... cause when i plug it in it still does nothing... but my video does when i unplug its battery... but yah parts can range fairly broad.. and if you tell me what your iPod does i might be able to help you out with whats wrong with it
 
yea idk why i keep buying them im on my forth one and every one ive had b4 it have broken, there saweet, just too fragile for me i guess
 
apple charges the shit out fo you to fix it and apparently its like $1 a min to talk to a guy for help past your warrently its retarded
