My Brakes

OK so i bought my skis at the beginning of last year, and i noticed that when it came time to take them off and stand on the back part the ski came off but the brakes would stay and not pop out. This wasn't to big of an issue because if i bailed on a jump usually the brakes would pop out. This year now whenever i bail on a jump or whatever(land awkwardly) my ski pops off fine(no problem there) but my brakes don't pop to stop the ski from sliding. This hadn't been a big issue as there aren't to many jumps yet so mostly just flat areas, but this past week i was skiing blue and i hit a rail and my one ski popped off as it should have but the brakes did not pop out to stop the ski, and it slide half way down the hill, the ski was fine, just one piece of the metal break is slightly bent. So i just have to push it up onto the top of my ski with going into my bindings. I am thinking i can just bend it back to its original place. But what do you guys think about chilzzling the rubber part of the break off so it can pop out better. Any other suggestions and help are greatly appreciated, thanks NS'ers.

cause on my bacons the plastic part of my brake rubs on my edges and sometimes only comes down half way, but I haven't ridden them yet but yeah, taking the plastic ends off might give you the clearance but it might be better to bend them just a little bit

usually when taking off my skis i just poke them of with my ski poll, i don't think they are half off, none of it is off

just bend them. they always get deformed, especially when landing switch, so there's nothing to worry about.

^ what about the fact that they don't pop out opon the skis comming off, should i chizzle down the side of the rubber piece so they slide off easier

thats a good idea, i should have though about that when this happend to me. my bindings were pretty old so i just bent the breaks out.

i have the same problem with my lizzies and it sucks i had to chase it all the way down the trail twice. I think im just gonna try to bend them more but the chiseling might be a good idea

same thing has been happening to me. you can buy breaks that mount wide, that are meant for powder skiis. or if you dont want to buy new ones just do what i did and bend them in and out a few times. it works

When you bend the brakes make sure that you have your boot clicked in to the binding. Makes it easier to work on. Also, if you have to bend them alot, make sure they still come down past the ski a ways. if you have to bend them at two angles to make it work, spend the extra time to make it work. Chasing a ski sucks, and having a ski hit someone sucks a hundred times more.

One of my brakes bends the wrong way, so when I put my ski on if i don't throw it forward the break "pedal" doesn't depress, I've tried three different breaks, but they have all done it, I reckon It's the mount, any ideas on a solution ???

if its bent the wrong way then just try bending it back the right way? and yeah check that the heelpiece is straight and tight, right down to the ski all that good stuff

one of my brakes used to always drag in the snow and i would bend it every day before i went out and it would be back the way it was at the end of the day so i heated it with a heat gun before i bent it and now its perfect (but theyre my urban skis now so i dont rele care either way)
