My bases won't hold a wax

I recently bought a pair of line anthem spirals with really dry bases. I waxed them and after one day of riding they were super dry again. I then re tried waxing them and they looked even better I used lots of wax and there were no dry spots and it happened again so they look pretty dry do I need to do a bunch of coats or are they shot?

when they get dry, does the base get a faded, white look to it? if so your skis may have baseburn. AFAIK, this basically means your bases were so dry that friction from who the fuck knows what burned the bases or some shit. don't quote me on that, but it happened to my 09-10 anthems and you have to take a razor and scrape the white shit off because baseburnt bases will not hold wax.

Try and go through a few wax/scrape cycles. This should help bring them back to life, after that it might be worth getting a grind if it hasn't worked.

take you skis to the shop for a base grind and they will grind down the bases, removing damaged areas and creating fresh pores. it will probably cost you 20 - 30 dollars.

extruded bases are another cheaper base material, whereas most skis have scintered bases. im fairly certain your skis have scintered bases so you dont really have to worry about that.

Backcountry has it right. If you have base burn, you'll need a base grind. This is when the base oxidizes and it will no longer hold wax.

If they're not burned and just really dry, just keep waxing them. I'd treat them like new skis, so go through 5 or more wax/scrape cycles with a cheap warm temp wax before they ever touch the snow, then finish with something closer to the temp you want or an all-weather wax. Rewax often after that - they'll just keep getting better.
