Hey all, my first time using this forum.

I just had my 2nd GS race in my life and my 1st run was like 18/60th-ish time, but I fell at the 2nd run and got a DNF...

Anyways, what do u guys think about my first run?

What can I improve?

Sorry for the video quality...

And my final result was 54th btw...

You might get flamed on here for posting but here's my opinion as an ex-racer:

That was a great run, especially for your second race. My only suggestion is to try to initiate some edge pressure earlier in the turn. That'll allow you to bite some radius off the turn, take a tighter line, then fuck some bitches at the bottom

oh, wheres the right place to post this?

But thanks for the reply, I was just having a hard time putting pressure on the outside ski. Maybe because I'm not folding my inner feet properly...

Right on the money. Was going to say exactly that. Try this out when you are freeskiing, just grip it and rip it brotha.

Also ex racer I was always taught our coaches would rather have good fast turns than knocking a gate. i agree OP can cut a bit of radius off if he transitions his turns quicker and gets more pressure on the length of the outside ski. But op i don’t think it needs to be an insanely dramatic right turn just yet where ur knocking gates

Agreed, you need earlier turn initiation. You were a little late through the whole course. Get earlier from the start you will be able take a tighter and shorter line. Except to fuck some bitches at the bottom you gotta learn to k-fed asap

It’s ok you can keep posting stuff here it’s just that here on newschoolers most people do not like racers because they tend to be more snobby and pretentious than the average park skier, but as long as you are chill and not overly snobby then you’ll have no problem on this site. Welcome to newschoolers

is this a first on ns?

"how was my race run" looking for actual racing advice?

and getting mostly genuine responses?

Most people are taking out all their angst on dope snow in the weekly hate threads. Racers seem to be off the hook for now. really just one scape goat to the next.

I agree with the earlier turn initiation. Try practicing outside ski turns. Hold up your downhill ski while traversing, roll from your inside ski's pinky toe to your big toe, hold the single ski all the way through the turn then repeat on the other side. Watch this video:https://videos.usskiandsnowboard.or...video/5582483837001/phase-2-outside-ski-turns

Notice how the transition from inside ski to outside ski happens with the other foot in the air. This is very important when bringing the drill back into normal skiing.
