Mutiny vs 86

I feel that everyone did better in Mutiny as opposed to the 86 except for maybe Charlie Owens (I really liked Charlie Owen's part, but he murdered in the 86, plus he blew his knee this year so his season was cut short). While I think the skiing was overall better in Mutiny, I personally liked the music in the 86 more. Overall I think Stept stepped it up this year (no pun intended). What are your thoughts

It's a tough comparison since they both kinda have their own vibes to them. Both are rad as fuck though.

Also, is it just me or does it seem like Mutiny only had 2 or 3 segments that actually had a song to them? I feel like they didn't use a whole lot of music in this film, mostly just raw sounds and stuff.

yeah they used a lot of background murmurs as songs which added to the vibe in a way, but also was kind of disappointing because my yearly music fix partly depends on all the ski movie's music from the year (sad to say, but im just too lazy to go to hype machine and stuff like that to get new music)

Mutiny. Loved the dark theme and personally I thought the cinematography was a step up over the (still impressive) 86.

I wasn't a fan of mutiny. To me it just seemed like way too filler and not enough skiing. I preferred the skiing in mutiny much more though. Too much tranny in 86.

mutiny is an actual film with an emotional theme and a beginning middle and end, whereas the 86 (like most ski movies, though to a lesser extent) was more of a prolonged edit with some filler and commentary. no hate, both are fantastic, but i was really impressed with mutiny because it could even appeal to non skiers.

I prefer mutiny due to the different emotions it was able to draw out of me. Mutiny had some parts that made me happy and some other parts that were legitimately scary and unsettling to me. This is not an easy thing to do in a ski film. The 86 was tight but it was more like your typical ski movie, banger shots with some music and some filler shots. Mutiny is a movie that could grab the attention of anybody, not just a skier. I also thought they stepped up the skiing this year as well. Aside from chuck, but he had a short season so there's not much he could do about it. Mutiny showed how much it takes to be able to live their lifestyle and what they go through on a day to day basis. Mutiny gets the nod from me.

I would also like to add that despite the fact that I like Mutiny more, I think the best shot from both movies remains Clayton's blunt 270 out on the rainbow in the 86

All these god damn vs threads, but i probably like the 86 more because of the soundtrack and all the banger shots. However, ever shot in Mutiny was sick.

The skiing was much better in Mutiny. The cork 6 out of the up flat is sick. However, i liked the soundtrack much better in the eighty-six.

86 for me, constantly engaged in the film. Can't say I enjoyed the operating theatre scenes with blood everwhere, not one to watch over dinner! Still a cracking film with awesome skiing none the less.

cinematography in the 86 i thought was betterI really liked the feel of mutiny the soundtrack was better than 86

clayton definetely had more bangers in 86, just a more condensed segment in mutiny but his blunt back 2 on that rainbow definitely wasn't topped this year

i think seans, chucks, and maks' segment were better in the 86

really really tough to say which one is better, they were both so different

I liked Mutiny more because it strayed from your typical modern-day ski movie. Rather than skiing+gnar+music+filler (86) is was more like Skiing+horror+GNAR+fear+music+sadness+BAILS+GNAR+a bunch of other shit that caused me to feel disturbed yet satisfied at once when I reached the end. I thought it was much more raw as well. It really made you appreciate urban skiers.

Both movies were sick! Its boring to have a company produce the same type of movie year after year. I mean i know the style of skiing is the same in both movies with mostly urban shots, but I think its sick how this year they decided to show the dark and painful side of skiing in a disturbing way.

I wasn't on your computer, I was checking out your roommates ass that was hanging out of her shorts....And I still kinda want lunch....

Weight put Stept on the map officially. Mutiny was too dark and repetitive for my taste. Too much focus on the negative... blood, sweat, and cops. The 86 however is one of the best ski movies created in the recent era (imo)... totally one of a kind.

i feel like im taking crazy pills here. 86 was cool and all but the skiing in mutiny is seriously like...twice as good and consistent

To be honest, quite frankly, i loved the 86 and the vibes it created, but to be honest how many rails to tranny finds were there? I liked how in mutiny there was a good balance of really technical shots and really burly tranny finds
