Mute Video Ads?

Maybe I just haven't been able to find it, but I know ads used to have a mute button. For one, the ads are usually 2-3 times louder than the video I am trying to watch, and secondly I have the NS videos muted for the most part, but that doesn't stop the ads.

Is there a way to mute ads anymore? And if not, why?

And I thought television is/supposed to/already regulated commercials for volume, is that something NS can do? I wear headphones at work and am going to go deaf with the 30 second North Face ad blasts in my ears when all other videos played on this site or any others are at a perfectly reasonable volume on my computer.

Thanks.

Sorry if this is a repost, did a quick search, but "video" turns up a billion threads...

Theres no effective way to do it other than muting the volume on your pc. i think there should be, or at least dont have the ad blasting at 3x volume

It's at the point where if they don't send it I'm going to have to start explaining to the advertisers they need to tell ns to sort it the fuck out, I already actively avoid any of the adverts.

I just don't understand why they took it off, there used to be a mute button. If they don't do something can I sue when my eardrumbs finally blow out?

You guys really can't hit your computers mute button?

And I agree ad volume needs to be regulated i doubt ns has a standard like tv does

I do hit the mute button, then unmute, then mute, then unmute, then mute, then unmute... It's an annoying repition that isn't necessary. There used to be a mute feature that was just for ads. I request it be reinstalled/coded.

Yeah this really needs to be enforced. I like loud volume levels but i'm going to be deaf soon if i keep watching ads.
