has anyone noticed the different styles of mutes?? o got teh really x-ed up onces so it looks like a cross. then u have the Mike D. style where its more of a x on its side. i dunno i just htougth of this...what kidn do u do?

DUDE, I've always just sat around and thought about that... mutes can be done in a thousand different ways, some cool, some uncool... I'm gonna find some pictures to demonstrate!

For example... Candide grabs mute way forward on the ski, while most people grab right next to or on the binding... and I don't like it!

This is my favorite kind of mute... not really tweaked out, but sort of out to the side, and with the legs all tucked in. SICK.

I don't actually always do my mutes like this. I have another style of doing them, that's super tweaked to the waaaay left side, almost off acis, with not a huge cross (because you can't cross when it's over on the side)

but when I'm doing a straight mute, this looks prettiest for the cizamrizzas

just think of it as a leading hand grab, like if you were throwing a three or what have you to the right and you grab with your right hand, that is a reverse grab

ahhhh ok, but what makes them more tweakable, cuz your goin in the direction your grabbing?

i thougth a reverse grab was when you grab with the hand opposite of the way you spin (spin right grab with left).

 
i think it totally depends on if you are throwing it in the middle of a trick, and what trick it is. sazmo can throw some really sweet back flip mutes where the skis are perpendicular. but then during his flatspin 3s its more of the slightly tweaked off to the side kind. both fit perfect.
