anyone else on here obsessed with mustangs? favorite model/year?Personally im in love with the 2000 Cobra R and the 2003 SVT Cobra
Cobra R: 5.4 Liter 4v DOHC supercharged V8 Aluminum Flywheel 6 speed transmission, only 300 ever built
2003 SVT Cobra: 4.6 liter supercharged V8 DOHC six speed tranny
maybe im a little over the top but im obsessed with them haha
 
The nice/rare mustangs are awesome. I absolutely hate all the bros that drive the 1999-2005 mustang or whatever year that is where they look and drive like shit. The new ones and the old ones are nice too, but my opinion of them is pretty poor due to how many douchebags I see with their hideous mustangs.

^ personally im a big fan of the 99-04 body style its different and i like different the new 05-present body style is real sick as well it definitely brings back the older 70's style body with a new look. but yeah i cant stand kids who think theyre badass in their gay ass v6 mustangs or even kids who put like 20in chrome wheels on their cars and think theyre the shit. half these kids cant even drive for shit and their parents pay everything for them. also not a huge fan of automatics or convertibles but i respect people who drive gt convertibles because everyone likes what they like im just not a huge fan
 
personally i hate most mustangs and most people that drive them. I do like some and yes some are fast but most just make nose and dont go anywhere just like majority of the ricers lol

the 429 super cobra jet? yeah i was at a car show and they had a 71 428 cobra jet for sale completely restored for 15,000 the thing was gorgeous
 
if i may ask which ones do you like? and yes i do agree with you that alot of people that do drive them are complete assholes but others like me are enthusiasts that love the car for what it is. as for the noise, thats american muscle, the sound of a V8 is so much better than a fricking ricer 4 cylinder or even a V6. and idk what you consider fast but a stock mustang gt in the 2005-present bracket comes stock with 300hp which is pretty decent if you ask me, if youre looking for more power in a mustang all you have to do is throw a turbo or supercharger in it and your golden. sure its like 6,000 for the super/turbocharger but if you want to make a little ricer like a civic put out that much power youre going to be spending a lot more. the only "ricer" cars that im a fan of are the evo, wrx sti, infiniti g35/37s, and the 350z and most of those i wouldnt even consider ricers. all of them have over 300hp stock which for the average driver is more than enough
 
i'm sorry but stock mustangs are never close to 300hp.... the base v6 is close to 200hp, with a 4L....

Mustangs are weak ingeneered cars, Ford was only able to develop 210hp with a 4L V6. Compare this to a ''more ricer'' car like a Civic, Honda was able to produce a 140hp car (which might seem low for you) with a 1.8L 4 inline cylinder.

But let's compare a V6 to a V6....

Honda NSX's (Acura here in north america) have a 3.2L V6 engine which develops stock 280 hp, 224 lb/ft of torque. I think american cars are pretty much owned by imports.

And for the sound of a V8, you should only check out a video of an inline 6 2JZ-GTE, which comes in TT Supras (for the record: 3L inline-6 for 330hp, 325 lb/ft), even a JDM car can make shit your pants.

I'm not a huge fan of mustangs mainly because i seem them EVERYDAY. I think they are too general of a sports car. They are a dime a dozen. However I do like the 68-71 models as well as the shelby and mach 1. But thats where it ends. I'm not really a Ford fan. I'm more of a Pontiac/Mopar guy myself.
 
I like some of the older stangs and definitely some of the newer cobras and the gt500's. Im talking about the noise of a V8 at the track that runs a 13 or 14 second quarter mile that shit is annoying lol. Ya I like rice, I like japanese cars i own an evo and its awesome. There are a lot of awesome japanese cars that you can make into real beasts.
 
dude 4frnt or die, supras are gay lol. ya they can make major power and go fast but they are gay. All you have to do is throw a huge turbo on it some injectors and turn up the boost and you are going to make 650hp thats like cheating lol.
 
how come being able to turn a car which is relatively fast stock into a track beast would be gay? you mean the exterior of the car looks gay or what?

seriously, 10 years old supra can still beat the shit outta new cars, and stock. I dont consider it gay.
 
mustangs are my other obsession next to skiing. they are alot of fun and not to expensive to get into. theres so much you can do with a mustang to tailor it to you personal goals and build the car you're proud to drive. plus, parts are cheap as hell (for the 5.0), and the 5.0's are torquey on the street and run pretty quick stock. Sink a few hundred into it for bolt ons and heads and you're hitting 300+ horsepower. Ive got a '94 drop top 5 speed with the 5.0, its the first year of the newer sn95 body style with the classic small block ford thats rock solid reliable, easy to wrench on and parts are cheap. Fuck ricers and imports, I respect some but my taste of them has been fouled too much by the bastard kids who drive them and degrade them. from the classic 60's to the fox body to the terminator cobras to the new body style, no other car has captured america like the stang.

show me a stock muscle car that can't beat a stock mustang from the same year.
 
so my dad loves mustang like he had 429 boss or whatever (cant think of it right now) but anyways he bought my sister a 02 mustang gt conv. well she was driving it last winter and spun out in hit a pole, no biggie just some cosmetic stuff my dad fixed well saturday evening my sister went to the gas station for some pop well she got rear ended real bad and its the guys fault but anyways the guys buddy whom he was going to's house was a block away..... well the guy hits and all so his friends come out and help clean off the road. then they take the cars (my sisters) spoiler and side scoops and were trying to take the cd player, with her still there.............. stupid rednecks.....
 
first of all it depends on what year youre talking about, the 99-04 gt come from the factory with a rating of 260 hp ill give you that. the 2005-present models come from the factory with a rating of 300bhp and the shelby comes with 314. this horsepower rating that the car companies give is horsepower at the crank, not at the rear wheels. look on the ford website it gives you all this information, and btw im talking about GTs not sixers
and as for the V8 vs V6 sound. a v8 sounds completely different than a v6 its much throatier and rumbles more.
 


Haha, but I kinda want an old 90's 5.0 liter and make it a sleeper, they are so ugly nobody would expect it. Ive seen one blown too, it was intense. I love the 70's mustangs, but they have bad reliability ive heard. I like the new ones, but the interior is soooo blaah
 
you arent understanding the concept of the pony car my friend. Torque + attractive looks + reliability + appeal + inexpense. Sure your moms acura grocery getter may come with a 250 hp v6, but horsepower sells cars and torque wins races. You have to inspect the power curve across the rpm range. The mustang 5.0 makes tons of power under the curve, this gives it alot of grunt off idle to about 5300 rpms, this is your fun factor. alot of people poke fun at supras because they have a shitty peaky powerband and only run well at high speed/rpm. Torquey V8s give that neck snapping kick around town, we arent no fast n the furious douchebags who cruise the highway at 150kph waiting for someone to "roll race" with. Also, try finding a used supra for under 10 grand. Mustangs have always had the bang for your buck factor, and thats why they are so successful. And just to clarify.. 300 GOOD rwhp is a good number for the street, want more? Stroke your block out to a 347 and play around with 380 horses naturally aspirated, or throw on a vortech and tune for the 400s. More yet? Start kicking in the money... dart block stroked with forged internals, kenne bell blower/turbo setup, 800-1000 horsepower (mind you, it will still be alot cheaper than a new vette). I could go on for awhile on this topic.. but I just remembered im on newschoolers right now not the corral ;) Imports are cool too if thats your thing, but you just cant argue with physics.
 
1- Torque and Horsepower are directly related, and both win races.

1HP=550LB.FT/sec

2- I agree there's a lot of import rices, but mustang owners too tend to be fucking douchebags (nothing against you, I don't know you) who only drive a mustang because people say it's cool.

3- Here in Canada it is possible to import at JDM shops $10k Supras (automatic and NA), but it's still a decent one. I know USDM Supras are a lot more expensive. And you should notice Supras, even for an old 12-15 years old car (MK4), are still sold for over $20k, while Mustangs are sold at cheap prices... Toyoto and Ford, you can't even compare both over reliability.

Again, I have nothing against you and respect you and your passion for 'Stangs.

but...you didn't show me a stock muscle car that couldn't rape a stock mustang...and i fucking hate supras so i don't know why you're bashing on them in response to my post. i guess if you don't have the cash for a good car then mustangs are decent, but i still hate them and always will, mostly because they are Ford.
 
a tad angry today are we? For your question, mustangs beat on the respective camaros and firebirds from the early 80's till 1993 when the fbodys got the corvette LT1. The 302 stang killed the 305 fbodys, even the L98 350 ones were a fair match. Even the times when the stang was underpowered compared to its competitors, it still outsold, and a few bolt-ons from the huge aftermarket even the odds. The stang is the only muscle car that survived from the 60s till today, so they are doing something right ;) I wasnt bashing supras, just explaining the difference between an 800 horsepower supra and an 800 horsepower stang. either way, I think you are just uninformed and ignorant.. go ahead and hate ford
 
Depends on the year your looking for. As far as im concerned, any late 60s early 70s MOPAR will shit on a mustang from the same years.
 
i may be ignorant and uninformed about Mustangs, but that's by choice due to the fact that I have no respect for Ford's autos. It says a lot about Ford when you can buy a Focus for more than a GT. Also, the fact that 'Stangs survived from the 60s until the present is because so many people buy them because they look good at a low price. The major problem I have with 'Stangs is that they need tuning before they can even compete with most other stock sports cars, and if you were to tune the other cars, the odds would likely again stand in their favour. I'll take a Hennesy Viper Venom 1000 over a Saleen 'Stang any day, at relatively the same price.
 
my friend's dad is obsessed with stangs....he has a collection of 30 something mustangs, and he restores/races them.....ive seen my friend's garage which only holds 4 of them and WOW
