Muscles

okay so I had my first softball practice last night and every muscle in my legs are really sore. I can't bend down and it hurts when I sit. The problem is I have a game tonight. If I try to stretch out the muscles and go for a run and such, will that make my muscles worse, or will it help loosen them up before the game, or will it just make it hurt more?

Stretching will help, although you're going to notice it no matter what... no amount of stretching will get rid of it completely. Running will only make it worse.

don't listen to the people who say not to run. you need to run or do something to make your heart rate go up and get the blood pumping more through your muscles. the soreness is from lactic acid build up that has settled in because your muscles get worked into a n anaerobic state of work and then stopping abruptly doesn't allow all the waste/acid from those chemical processes to get moved out by increased blood flow. this is why pitchers always run after throwing workouts, and other athletes do similar cool downs, etc. if you're sore you either have to move to work it out, or you can sit and it will go in time, but take longer and you will have a lesser benefit from the exercise you've already done. hope that helps.

so your saying that If I run, even though it hurts like hell and seems like it could damage my muscles, it will make them stop being sore?

yeah, you're not going to hurt yourself. just go run. that's the only way to get rid of your muscle pain effectively. and also, if you run again the next day, you'll be able to sustain a much more vigorous level of exercise in the future.

It would be better to go the the gym and ride a stationary bike or one of those eliptical machines on an easy setting to get your legs loosened up.

you probably got acid in your legs, it happens when u suddenly do a lot of physical exercise after taking a break of like 3 months. anyways, its a good idea to stretch before and after practice to make your muscles absorb the acid quicker. acid is not a bad thing, your muscles release it on purpose in order to make you perform better, so running is gonna make more but it wont fuck up your muscle. after about a week or so, it'll hardly ever happen.

itll be like that for a while until your body gets used to it. like when i started working out i was in so much pain for like 5 days. now 5 hours later iw ouldnt even knwo i worked out

if your just sore then once u start playing u probally wont even notice anymore. during games i dont feel anything cuz all the adreneline and what not.

lay up against the wall with ur legs straight up and ur back on the floor. Do this for 20 minutes it will help drain the lactic acid out of ur muscles.

Quoted for truth!

What also might help you in the future, always have a cool down period where you slowly run/cycle for about 10min, and lots of stretching after that!

I also take creatine (Kre-alkalyne) for faster recovery and better endurance. What I understand from some self-study it delays your muscles from working in the anaerobic state, and even when it goes into that it works as a buffer on lactic acid. Certainly helps if you're just starting out with sports after a period of inactivity.

Always stretch after any sort of endurance. It sucks when your muscles tighten up and you cant walk.

booyah, except he left out the stretching, stretching = the secret to anything with muscles, anytime you work out you should stretch before and after you exercise, especially after, thats when its best for your body, you actually increase your flexibility by stretching after a workout, stretching before is mostly just to prevent injury. You will notice it, but in a game and such it shouldnt affect you too much

Stretch, but dont strain. Running will only re-tear alot of the muscle fibers you broke the other day, bu stretching will help re-align the broken muscle strands and give you some flexibility back.

take/eat something with potassium to release the lactic acid in your legs

drink lots of fluids, preferably water

stretch

heat 10 mins. ice 10 mins. heat. ice. for an hour

light jogging will actually help, i reccomend stretching, 20 minute light jog, more stretching, then dont sit on your ass unless your in a hot tub or something, you need to keep your muscles warm just dont work them too hard.

You have to use some muscles stretching techniques to pump out it from aggressive condition. or have to use some muscle power up supplements to recover your inside injury. you can use any muscle boosting supplement such as http://www.hyperfuel9xprice.com/ to get rid off from the problem. and before gaming please first of all do some workout jumps for getting de-hydrated. Thanks

do some dynamic stretches (butt kicks, high knees, etc.) and then go for a quick run. nothing too strenuous though. after the run get some lotion and self massage your legs. just really dig into the sore areas and activate all of those tiny muscles that don't ever get activated. if you have a foam roller i would suggest using that too.
