I know there's been alot talked about this whole shindig, but does anyone else have the feeling that MTV is gonna be lame as usual? I have this feeling that they are gonna be stupid about it, and dumb it down so much, and thats only for the snowboarding. Everyone keeps saying how its gonna help our sport. But i think that they will just be get some tool who thinks he can announce our sport and dumb it down for every moron who puts on MTV and sees it. Itll be "WOAH! these are some totally crazy snowboarders! OH man! whast that skier doing! hes going backwards! Ive never seen anything like this before, hes crazzzzzy!"

when is it on mtv? like what time and stuff? they will most def mess it up...but i cant be there...so its the best im gonna be able to do

yes, you have a fine point. MTV is way beyond gay and sellout. They'll probably cut to commercial while the winning skier is on the inrun to the winning jump, missing that jump entirely.

sure, MTV could say some stupid shit, but besides X-Games and US Open (which is barely even ON tv), this is an event that is going to be televised and promoted on some largely distributed media channels.

Stuff like this, even if the commentator might a trick incorrectly, brings skiing out to an audience that might not otherwise see what we do.

 
yea well, i agree with the exposure thing... this can lead to more events/corporate sponsors and more money for our industry, so overall i think its a good thing... look at skateboarding, they have so much corporate sponsorship but skateboarding has stayed the same, just now their industry has more money which benifits the sport, the companies, and the people who partake in it

yeah it will really expose skiing to a new audience,

I have faith in the event, but not in MTV and their decision making abilities. Either way, the event itself will be off the hook!

 
this is good news mos def... mtv is being generous enough to see potential in this event and sport and is taking the time to broadcast it...BUT... like some said they prolly will cut scenes and shit, pissing alotta ppl off. either way tho, i'd rather they show some of it to atleast get the exposure out there then to not show it at all... i mean its not too often that Jib events are shown on tv...so were making progress somewhat

i think mtv is totally fucking gay and they suck big foot dick. they are prob gunna fuck skiing up some how, but you never know. either way it will be cool for skiing to get some recognition to how baddass it is
