Mtn Bike racing

I was lately in a mountain bike race, i came in 5th out of 20...im 14 and it was 17 and under catagory...i was the second youngest and the entire race i couldnt help thinking about how boring and easy it was compared to road bike racing. All my friends love mountain biking and told me to race so they could 'kick my ass', i beat them by 5, 15 and 18 minuts.....moutain biking just isnt that fun

It's only fun when you get into techinical shit, so don't listen to your pussy ass friends who can't do anything on a bike except pedal cause you're quite obviously better than them anyways...

yeah, but road racing is so intense. Especially when you're in the main pack and everybody moves at the same time and you just don't want to be the one to fuck up...

^have you ever been in a road race? its so much better...in mtn, its more like running, everyone is spread out, there isnt any drafting and its not as much of a tactical sport...and on top of all of it, you get mud mixed with your cuts and it stings and its just annoying

what sort of mountain bike race was it? if it was cross country that's pussyish anyway, try the psychosis out in golden, it's pure absolute insanity downhill and takes about 18 minutes for the top riders, that's huge especially for downhill and tiring, take that

I say that any aspect of cycling is good. Road, track, trials, DH or XC. My favourite being DH. It was probably a pretty shitty course if you found it boring and a roadie (no offence) beat supposidly hardened mountain bikers by that much. If you get the right course you can't beat it.

 
^^ right on it must not have been very techinical cause roads all flat with maybe a few ruts. mountain biking may not be as fast but itsa cause its way more technical than roadin.

xc is fun when there is freeride shit on the trails, but racing can get boring

personally i think xc is horrible. i raced for 3 years and did pretty well but it got so boring and gay. i much prefer dh and road if its a race, but urban and trials get my vote.

Urban, dirtjumping, bmx, downhill, and road are all so much fun, but xc is a different kind of fun. It's a 'I wonder how much pain I can put myself through' kind of fun.

ROADIES have NO right , and I mean NO right to badmouth mountainbiking. It's the same arguement as ski racing and park riding. BALLS. Not cardio, not heart and lung capacity, but big ol balls. Downhill racing is one of the most intense sports on the planet. Some lame cross country race is super lame, I won my first race my 5 min. It was retarted. Cross country is for lawyers and doctors.

The more you want something, the less likely it will happen.

uh...i don't know, but the Tour d'France is pretty bad-ass any way you look at it. Rediculously fit people using every advantage to get ahead, how is that not technical? Drafting too.

actually, comparing DH and road biking is more like comparing park skiing with nordic skiing.
