I really want to get into riding, but Im not sure what bike to buy. I rode bmx for 2 years so im familiar with basic stuff, but as far as forks and derailuers and any other non bmx bike part im basically lost. Im just looking for information, and what would be a good all around ride, dj, urban, and trail

ian

Rednecks are the only people who will put 8' of lift, 39' Mud-Terrains, A Chevy 350, and straight pipes on a truck, to drive it around town bumping country. May there eyes melt in soup.

hmmm... youll be suprised on how similar mtb and bmx are. mostly all pros started out bmx. if your into dirtjumpin and urban, go with a hardtail. if money isnt an issue get an ellsworth minuteman. i duno whatever.

Money is an issue right now. Im looking at getting a used hardtail with at least 130mm of travel. Any input with those guidelines would be tight. Ive looked over pinkbike.com quite a bit, but all the sellers are up in Canada. So my question is for like 800usd, whats the best bike i can get, roughly.

check out www.konaworld.com, if not that, just write to Mountain Bike Action, they are very good at answering your questions. go to their website mbaction.com then to the 'ask rc' link.

get a kona coiler if that is too expensive get a norco sasquatch(hardtail) if that is too expensive get a giant warp ds1

i got a rental gary fisher hardtail at my ski mountain for $100 with 2 new free maxxis tires worth $80 so i basicly paid $20 for the bike

i have heard bad things about ellsworth, that they break easily, always a sure bet with rocky mountain or kona

Believing in jesus is like believing in santa claus, once you reach a certain age you realize that it's all made up

Ok, so what Im hearing is that either a kona or a norco would work well for me. i was looking at either a stuff or a roast, or a sasquatch like you said. Ive ridden my friends 17 in stuff, and it was a lot like riding my bike, as far as balance and everything. is the sasquatch the same frame geometry and everythnig for the 17 in?

check out sinisterbikes.com, I got the DNA such a nice bike. My friend got the R9, but you prolly own't want that since its 2250 for frame only and is full suspension

I just bought the frame and put all my componenets fro my old bike on it (shimano xtr) but the frame at msrp price is going to coast you around $700 there pretty expensive but there mreant specificly not to break and they are ride built. In asense like armada where a group of riders wanted to start a new company cuz there sponseres wouldn't make a prodcuct to there specfications

i am mostly a road racer, but i have a middle of the line mountain bike trek 4900, and i rode it today, it was fun

go for a P2. 7-900 range, much better freeride hardtail frame than a kona hardtail.

Ellsworth= P.O.S.... very weak. Also Ellsworth does not make the Minute Man Balfa does.. Thats a nice frame if your into riding street and dirt jumps. Check out the p1 and the p2 for the money they cant be beat. Or.. if you want the dopest ride around go tohttp://www.geekhousebikes.com and get one of these frames...

in your price range im thinking specialized P2, kona stuff, Haro escape 8.2 or norco one25.

rocky mountain switch. dig for a good deal though. although it would be worth it to get the switch sl. for downhill, demo 9, kona's, santa cruz, decent bikes. except for the fact kona's don't have a warranty on their frame

Just Huck It.

I gotta a couple of bikes, 03 stinky primo and a 03 chute (yes they did not make the chute last year, but I managed to get one some how. fully custom build up, very sick.) there both great bikes, and get the job done.

I was gonna build up a new bike for djing and street rideing, and all said in done it was only going to run me 900 bucks. tell me what you think:

Azonic Steelhead Frame

Marzocchi Dj3

Sun Singletracks laced to surly single speed hubs

Profile cranks

Fsa Bars

Pig Dh Headset

Maxxis Highroller tires

Tompson seatpost

Azonic seat

Single Speed set up with 30T bmx sprocket/sprocket guard, and 14 tooth freewheel

Avid mech. disc brake with gyro

should be a sick bike. just 3 bikes get pricy.

vt rider.. if your going to run a gyro you might want to get a diffrent headset then the FSA.. what happens is when you get everything in place the cups dont sit down in the headtube far enough with all the gyro crap.. The Chris King steel headset has a deeper skirt so it sits alot further down.. it will accomadate a gyro.. personally i have had a gyro on a MTB and they just dont work that well.. you loose alot of brake power too. the best thing to do is run just a rear brake with a longer cable... or run a little longer cable for the rear then get a hollow stem bolt and run the front brake down the head tube and out the bottom of the fork.. that works well..

hahah, these are all bikes i wish i had. me and my trek 4800 are rockin it up though. i dumped the shitty ass stock fork for a rock shox duke XC, which is pretty sweet.

i'm bored, and i've got a forest behind my house, so does anyone have any tips for building a dirt jump behind my house? like, idk, bike jumps just seem to be alot steeper takeoffs than ski jumps.
