Mt Snow Opening Date???

i dropped my skis off to get mounted today and the tech said his buddy works there and that they plan to open on Halloween.

They have another 2 weeks and a weekend before nov 1...if temps cooperate it could be done. I was just out side in CT and it was very cold never mind northern areas

Cold weekend, but they need to wait for the ground to cool down as the ground temps are very high still.

from the website
You've waited long enough.

The National Weather Service says temps will drop into the mid 20s over the next two nights. And as we all learned in 2nd grade, that is below the freezing mark. Randy and the Miracle Makers are reporting for duty at 11pm tonight, and they will most likely fire up the fan guns on Launchpad in the wee hours of the morning.

And oh yes, we planned ahead. The mowing team has kept the grass on Launchpad buzzed short, so it won't take much snow to get 'er open. Remember last year, we opened a small terrain park on the Pad on October 29? We'll probably do that again.

Stay tuned in the coming days - winter is coming early.

i was up there this morning, they still havent started blowing yet, and mtn biking is still goin on.

woot woot
Game on. Snowmakers are reporting for duty at 11pm tonight - fan guns will run on Launchpad if weather forecasts hold.

LAST NIGHT

I don't think they're trying to open the mountain the 29th, just that little rail garden on launchpad like they did last season. I'm assuming they're going to (try to) open on the 1st

i was just watching the news and they said it is going to snow tomorrow night, tuesday night, in the northern new england above like 1000 feet! yay! hope that means they can make \ tons of snow!!! yay!!

ill be there tomorrow afternoon. sucks that its a toss up between the 1st n 7th...need to take off work.

nov 1st should be pretty good they'll have snowmaking temps m-f according to weather.com so

pray for cold weather

theres absolutely no snow on the mountain as of today, minus the little they had for the park so the only way it will happen is if they can blow m-f, little sketch

^they can blow every night this week...and during 2 or 3 days...those guns work reeeeeal good too. we'l see

exactly the warmest night this week is monday and thats 30 degrees

yea it we'll just have to see what tricks they have up their sleeve.

my prediction is that they will have the jib park open with the discovery lift running like they wanted to do today.

it all depends on the wet bulb temperature. which is based on temp and humidity. if the wet bulb temperature is below 32 F, they can blow snow. wet bulbl temp is taken by wetting a cloth and puttin it on the bulb of a thermometer, than swingin it around in the air. so the temp will read lower than the actual temperature because of evaporational cooling. so the lower the humidity, the more evaporation, and the lower the wet bulb temp. humidity is key when the actual temperature is borderline for snowmakin

do you really have to spin it around to get an accurate reading? im no expert in snow making, but i use wet bulbs at my work and we dont spin them around. i am curious tho! does that make a difference? maybe for the purposes of snow making it does....hmmm.....i am intrigued.

things are really lookin good now keep fingers n toes crossed

Via web cam it appears to be raining. I mean it snowing in PA right now so hopefully that goes straight to MT SNOW??? I mean really. Who cares about PA. mt snow needs to open nov 1

^yes they will! until saturday comes, im standing by that!

haha nah ur almost deffinately right. it seemed like it would workout last weekend when all was good, then the good ol' northeast weather fucked us over. i doubt they're gonna get much snow to actually stick cuz the ground is still pretty warm and absolutely soaked. to be completely honest, im kinda doubting jiblet will be much more than it was last week. the weather forcasts keep changing. friday is supposed to be up near 50 with no clouds in the sky, and 40's throughout the weekend and all next week with possibility of a little snow and more rain. i guess time will only tell when we actually get to ski top to bottom.

so if they don't open this saturday, they will not open until next saturday, right? or would they possibly open sunday, monday, or tuesday?

TWA i agree with you 100% i bet that theyre gonna have the lil lift open next to launch pad

Good news they plan to blow tonight and it is snowing there nowI

ginty they didnt blow any snow last night, and cant today either. weather just isnt cooperating. i wouldnt plan on having the launch pad chair on, because i doubt the park will even be open. its supposed to get reeally warm friday, and warm temps this weekend and throughout next week too

same with mount snow! look at their new update. they are "saving snow for opening", maybe the lift open this weekend depending on weather...maybe its finally helping us out

I pulled this off of their snow report, if it means anything to anybody. So it looks I may head down tomorrow.

"Well, kids, it’s snowing right now. It started around 2pm and it’s still coming down. In fact, I’ll probably have to clean off my car with my phantom ice scraper. Feel free to donate one to Mount Snow, care of Halley O’Brien, Snow Reporter Extraordinaire.

Good news. We’re stockpiling snow at the summit right now in preparation of a top to bottom run AND a terrain park on opening day. Personally, I think early season downloading should consist of putting new music on a riding playlist, not sitting on a chairlift to get back to the base. That’s just me, though.

We’re planning on reopening Launch Pad to the public once again tomorrow, weather permitting. Same goes for this weekend, and we might open the Discovery lift. Hooray! Oh, and don’t toss your costume after Halloween… it might come in handy this Saturday. More details on that tomorrow…"
