Mt snow Non-Park

i understand the parks are f--ken legit but what about everything else like woods and drops and steeper stuff.

Mt snow has a ton of sick woods, you just need to know where to look. In Dec-March, I rode a shitload of woods there. Somedays I never even went into the park, it was really fun. There was always enough terrain to entertain me when the snow was good. All the official glades are dope, but there's also a shitload more woods to ski that isn't technically trail. So yeah, if you spend a little time and get to know the mountain, you can ski some good drops and bonks as well as grab some nice turns in the trees.

Most of Mount Snow terrain is turn turn mini cliff, turn turn lift. A lot of it is way to mellow or way to short. I spent the winter working at MS. Here is a mini edit of a few mini pow days in February.

Most of this is to the skiers right of Ripcord on the North Face.

the plunge. short sweet sick ass tree run. the trials, off the north face. lots of ducking nice and long and im sure theres some drops in there. theres a super dope like 20 foot drop in the woods off river run too. same with the fatty land woods but its not really a trail.

thanks guys, ive been skiing smuggs and basically im getting bored of the same stuff over and over. i think i might have to check out mt snow next year

Yo Shane, that video is really sick, I really like it. It reminds me of mad days spent chilling in the Plunge/Trials/Other woods locales.

That was a sick POV vid, shane. I watched it the same morning we got that storm, but I was stuck in class. Fortunately, I had a computer, but I almost yelled when I recognized the stump-drop in the trials. Man, you just sent it. You think there would be enough room to spin a 3 off it? The landing's pretty tight, but if you take it slower, you can hit it as a double stager.

MS is overall quite flat, with the exception of ripcord and skiers right on the north face. However, there are a few short steeps and some fun drops. I am hesitant to share because they all seem to get tracked out quickly, but I'm not skiing there as much as I used too, so I'd like people to enjoy them.

The stump drop that shane hit it that vid. is close to the boundary edge of the trials, but has a typical flattish landing.

There is a 7+/- ft. drop skier's right of lower challenger that you can see from the challenger lift, so it gets a good amount of use. The outrun is long, so you can spin it or even practice switch pow landings.

There are a bunch of super tech drops in the plunge. You'll have to find those.

Between snowdance and canyon, there is a fun little chute/ cliff that's kind of hard to find.

Over on the sundance face, there's a good 6ish foot cliff thats at the bottom and skier's right.

There are a few small drops in sap tapper on the main face.

Between Beartrap and Sundance is a fun face that noone ever skis, but it has very thick cover. Possible area to do some low-impact, sustainable clearing in the summer? Anyone down?

Where exactly is the river run cliff? Below the bank there?

Enjoy.

^That River Run drop I was thinking of is actually off of One More Time, when your skiing down the trail its towards the bottom a bit before the entrance to the boonies on the skiers left. you pretty much drop off the side of the trail. maybe 10-12 feet. pretty fun, the only thing that sucks is you have to traverse/hike back up to the trail. There is a pretty sweet ice drop next to it as well.

hopefully posting this pic works... if not check out my profile

this drop used to be money last year, cruised out to it this year and that fallen tree totally fucked up the good part of it..nonetheless this is mt snow and is a drop that can be sent if its in the right condition...

Thanks man. I remember noticing alot of potential for that area, but not really finding anything other than the cliff I mentioned above that's around there. Any other spots you're willing to share? god, I miss skiing already...

when i was there in april, i was surprised that they ever decided to build a ski resort on that mountain. the lift ride took twice as long as i expected only because the mountain was so flat. im sure there are a few nice trails if you know where to go, but seriously, part of the mountain went uphill. that is one flat ski resort
