I am movin to reno next year and plan on Riding Northstart and sieera but with Mt rose only 15 minutes away is it worth buying that pass also? Is it a legit mountain?

i dont know as for actual skiing, but it looked rad as fuck when we drove by there a while ago. they had this one face thats just peppered wiht all kinds of crazy ass lines. i bet it could be fun. how much do tickets/passes run there for?

Theyre 350 now I think...get dem early. Its alright, some pretty sick terrain. The chutes are fun. Parks arent good

Northstar & Sierra? Form reno you wan't to ride either Alpine or Squaw. Mt. Rose has the Chutes, but it's only good on pow days and the rest of the hill blows. Northstar and Sierra are even worse for terrain. They are ok for park but you will be sorry the first day it snows over 6".

Take this question to the cali regional forum and they will let you know what's sick. Alpine.

Ive had some nice pow days at sierra. Alpine is def. the shit though, if I had the option I would opt for an apline pass, but I'm a poor college student who is restricted in the palces he can stay, and who he is riding with, so the double whammy pass is ideal.

QUESTION:

i am probably going to heavenly next year for a ski vacation. how long of a drive is it from heavenly to squaw?

on an as far as mt. rose's legitness

squaw

alpine

heavnley

boreal

sugarbowl

kirkwood

and flat star are way more legit. way more

omg dude go to squaw, my friends going to college up there and gets to ski there after school everyday, he says its like going to heaven everyday haha

ive made 12 minuets easily smoking a bowl between my friend on the way up

rose is shitty, i go there every year for some reason cus it sounds like a good idea, but NOPE

fuck rose no good, chutes=overrated as fuck

park = absolutely retarded ski patrol = dicks that get pissed at you for skiing backwards me and dont know a break from a twist, me = ranting little bitch

but no really i would go to squaw if you want good terrain, i like flat star tho. lookout is still fun i dont give a fuck what anyone says

I'm pretty sure theres some stuff at Rose that woulod scare the shit outta most of you... its no Squaw but there is definitely better terrain at Rose than you think... its kinda like Heavenly (everyone thinks its just for gapers and people from reno/carson) there is some good steep terrain...

On another note: on a good year there is only 1 cliff on the whole mountain and its only about 20 feet.

if you're into just lapping big mtn terrain then thats the place for you. if you are into park it's the last place you want to go. they have a few small cliffs and the chutes are killer on a powder day, but if you are looking for a legit all around mountain for a reasonable price go to alpine if you can handle the extra few minutes of driving. and rose may be 15 minutes from the south end of town but I go to UNR and its a good 35 from my place.

the distance between reno and rose varies a lot depending on where you are. Reno is very expansive, so if you live on the north side of I80, its going to take you at least half an hour to get to Rose. Then again, if you live right near I80, I wouldnt even touch rose in the first place, because its just a little bit longer drive if you want to hit up Squaw and Alpine. Squaw and Alpine absolutely Pwn every other resort. They have similar terrain, but Shralpine has better park stuff, and Squaw has more of that crazy big mountain terrain. Take your pic. I personally choose Shralpine for the price...

you'll only get to rose in 15min if you live in southside of town, which is where i am at right now

if you're moving here to ski, i'd suggest living in north reno where you can find some nice places for good prices, and I-80 has access to northstar and squaw and alpine

mt. rose is a family ski hill, that's all there is to say...park sucks, the chutes can be sweet depending on how much snow is falling and wind behavior, but ski patrol is so strict in controlling them, half the time they're not even open

def recommend checking out kirkwood, too

Yeah dude. That happened to me TWICE last year.

The first time I went there, they had the whole thing on wind hold basically, even though the winds were not all that high.

The next time I went there, They had them open in the morning, but then some guys caused a mini-lanche and they closed it all off by 11am. Lame.

haha! i remember that! they even did an article in the newspaper, too, cause that guy threatened to sue...why can't people just accept the risks of skiing?

Yeah i know.

If I cause a 'lanche or a sluff storm or whatever, and I happen to get caught in it, then thats fucking life. Do you think a pro skier is going to sue Jackson Hole if they get caught in a 'lanche? fuuuck no.

I've seen every other pro from Michah Black to Jeremy Nobis to Seth Morrison to Hugo Harrison get caught in a 'lanche. Its part of skiing. They get right back up and keep owning.

Mt rose is cool. Some of the people that go there are pretty stuck up or in their own world and the general population is families with young children, but besides that, it really is a fun mountain plus it is super close to reno. The park is getting progressivley better each year. Its just hard to set up a good park with big jumps and cool rails when nobody has the ability to hit anything. All of our rails are usually used as booters for rad dads and their 5 year olds lol. Rose really just needs a more park rats. So if you are thinking about getting a pass you should really consider it, the more people riding the park the more leeway upper mangement will give park staff in the case of building a legit park.

disregard the post above from 4 years ago on this account, my friends are dooshes
