i need help finding info on mt hood's summer activities. is it open all year round. planning to go this summer if it is, thanks for any help

 
they have skiing in the summer. i have been there 2 years and im goimg there this year

Timberline generally closes for a week or two at the end of summer due to typical maintenance. Other than that, they're open year round.

The problem, at this point is whether Timberline will be able to retain enough to snow this year to stay open that long. If you're going to be skiing at Timberline as well as staying on the mountain...try to do it as early in the summer as possible.

There are numerous places to stay. Hotels, cabins, houses, camping, etc. Things to do: fishing, hiking, drinking beer, checking out some of the shops and tents that will be set up in Government Camp. There's plenty to do on the mountain, it's just a matter of looking around. You'll keep yourself plenty busy.

Portland has the most strip clubs per capita in the nation. Of course skiing, river sports, hiking. You have to drink the yummy micro brews. Outdoor parties are always fun, www.nwtekno.org

Info on sites? Websites? Not really sure what you mean.

Either way, depending on when you go...expect to ski. There's usually a prime public park in the beginning to mid-summer. As far as finding a place to stay, I would definitely call in advance and figure out where you're headed. You do realize that Mt. Hood is roughly an hour outside Portland don't you? Make sure you've got transportation and lodging before you hop on a plane...

Also keep in mind that Timberline in the summer is pretty expensive, so bring some cash. If you want to stay nearby, check out the Ark, it's a shady motel on your right a few miles after you pass by Welches on your way to the mountain.

^ Ethan, as far as I knew the Ark was no longer vacant to the public. I believe Windells owns the hotel portion now and vacancy is only available to RV's.

This information could be wrong but this is the problem I ran into while trying to find inexpensive lodging on the mtn. in the summer.

There's actually a little motel called the Mountain Air Inn, shady as well, but it's cheap, clean and further up the mountain than the ark. I think we paid roughly $30 for a single night.

And as for lift tickets. Yes, keep in mind that they're still $40 for a day ticket. Bring plenty of cash and be sure to pack your own lunches unless you feel like paying $8 for a $3 burger.

damn............... yeah i dunno if i can pack a lunch unless its all spam. i live in NC. i can tell this is going to prove to be an expensive trip. well im paying for it so i'll enjoy it

 
Also, if you know any locs you might try to find a place to crash or rent in Gov't camp while you're there. Thanks for the info on the Ark man, I thought it was still open to the public.

North Carolina? Damn thats a long way. I live in Oregon, and we've had nothin but rain for 2 weeks. If your gonna spend that much money, then go to Whistler. Mt. Hoods snow is so low right now, go to canada, im serious

 
you could go with camping, there are some free spots nearby that you could just stay for a good while. if you do, check up on forest service regulations, you might have to move around. and have transportation, its a good distance between places. and have lots of water , you need it
