Mt. Hood, Chile, Argentina, or New Zealand for the summer?

Has anyone been to these countries for the summer? Are there any good camps there? I am pretty go in the park, but the huge plus for Chile, Argentia, and New Zealand is that you get some powder. Any ideas? Budget is not really a big deal.
 
it depends on what do you want to get as an experience, going to another country is a hole different thing than just going to mt.hood for example, also if you go to chile or argentina you can visit both countries...i can speak for my self and tell you that skiing over here in chile is pretty sick and fun
 
if you're a park rat, you should maybe go to new zealand.  but if it were me, i'd go to argentina.  
 
Last summer I was thinking about New Zealand, but I mean, is the flight worth it? I live in NYC. That is a loooong flight.
 
Are you kidding me? Whats with people and plane rides. The fact that there is no serious time difference (besides it being just strait up a day) between NZ and the US means no jet lag. Long plane rides really aren't a big deal. I have had my fair share and you get hooked up with food, your own tele if its a legit plane, and you can sleep fine unless your seat sucks. No big deal its worth it any day.
 
right now in ny it is 11:22 in new zealand it is 4:22 AM tomorow, not to bad but still enough to throw you off for a day, and taking time off of work is tricky for going there too, if you only get 14 days off you don't want to waste 4 days....
 
uhhh, NZ is a 15/16 hour difference (I guess it depends where you are in NA), so it does take a bit of time to adjust.. a few days max.

I've spent summers in NZ, switzerland, and whistler glacier. NZ is super fun and there is def lots of skiing to be done. move to wanaka and you are super close to treble cone (good big mountain skiing) and snowpark. Also, the country has tons of little club hills that often have the craziest terrain you will ever ski. In switzerland I spent the summer in Saas-Fee. Awesome glacier, great park, not too crowded... small mountain town. It will be full of asians and world cup racing teams.

I have always wanted to spend a season in south america... heard nothing but good things about the snow down there.
 
I know I said, "Budget is not really a big deal." But I mean is there a big difference is price? Now that dollar is falling, which place would be more "dollar-friendly?"
 
I went to Chile last summer and it was way sick. Like people have said if your more into park then probably Argentina, but if you want a more overall experience then definately Chile.
 
i live just outside nyc too man, and im goni to SASS for their august session, its gonna be SO sick

but i just tore my acl partially soooo gotta bust my ass to rehab it before august!
 
I'm in Austria right now and theres a glacier called Dachstein near me.They say the parks good but no powder what so ever

come to Chile man you will not regret it sickk skiing, great parties and everybody is really chill specially with americans...ther is a really good vibe here and last year was soo sick we had tons of snow...
 
I've been to Chile, Hood, and NZ over the summer. Hood is really sick because there are some sick jumps if you go around the Burton comp. Also its actually summer so its pretty warm and fun in the sun. Chile was pretty sick. Where I was there wasn't much of a park but there were lot of places you can just go to ski on the mountain, and never get bored. NZ was sick, I would go there again in a second. The mountains are sick, a bunch of nice parks there. The culture is amazing. Also if you don't want to ski, there is just so much to do outside of the mountains.
 
I live in NZ and its sick! If you want park and a some big mountain go to wanaka. they have treble cone and snow park a 30mins drive away. the club fields up in arthurs pass are amazing, as long as you dont mind using rope tows. They crazy terrain and lots of powder, but you need a good snow year for it though, like last year not many opened at all. the culture is pretty similar to america and wanaka will have heaps of people like you here for our winter sometimes accomodation can be pretty hard to find...

Chile and Argentina will be a way different culture but cant give you any info on it seeing as i havent been there.

well those other places such as chile, argentina, new zealand all have pow in the summer which is amazing and great. Mt.hood just is a summer camp or you could take the public park, no pow just there for parks or practicing racing. Mt.hood eh i would only go there cause they got camps and stuff and you could learn new things and i like and hour away from hood. but down in south america i would love to ski pow in the summer its winter down there while its summer up here same with new zealand
 
You sure about that? Switzerland = summer, NZ = Winter. I find it very hard to believe that a summer glacier has more vertical than a whole winter mountain.
 
I've only been to NZ but i'd say if you were looking for conditions over everything go to Chile, cause NZ doesn't get huge dumps and light as powder, but I'd say it would be easier and more fun for off the slopes life, cause Kiwis are always cool and you will party hard.
 
i don't know about NZ but here in chile the vibe is really sick specially in my mountain El Colorado, wich is near santiago the biggest city and also near three of the biggest resort of Chile... and the party is sick you finish skiing and you go straigh to the hapopy hour wich is full of girls and music like everything havin a good time...and if you want you can always take litlle trips to the south of chile and see how beautiful it is
 
SASS is so sick

ive been there the last two years. the first year i went it was in las lenas which was prety dope but they moved it to bariloche which is a little more touristy but its also a super sick mountain. its got a little better park than las lenas and there are trees so the tree skiing is epic. the camp is also so it like the people who run it and coach are super chill. last year we got a 3 feet of snow best skiing ever

come to nz! sick parks and sick big mtn within 45 mins of wanaka.

and to whoever said that snowpark was to crowded, you have to be joking.
 
I've lived in Wanaka one season. I love the country and the people, it's one of my favorite. But you have to stand in line for AGES to drop the pipe. The park is immaculate, but there's just too many people going there.

This is not the case in Saas-Fee and Zermatt + it's real snow in Switzerland not artificial like in Snowpark NZ.

I know for fact that during august - september of 2007 there were better powder lines to be had in Zermatt than in NZ. Fortunately I was in Argentina shredding some of the best lines of my life. Argentina is epic.

at these altitutudes summer does not apply, its an arctic climate. Zermatt hat 3000 feet vertical in the summer. The verticals in NZ resorts are pathetic (no offense).
 
god damn im so pumped for sass, and hopefully take a trip back to my home town! santiago chile, born there but never been back =)
 
If it were me, I would go to New Zealand cause I have family there. I hear everything is really cheap in South America, also the Mountains are huge. Mt. Hood would probably be pretty expensive and all you would be able to do is ski park, but you would have nice weather all the time.
