Yo yo this is georgio and I jst wanted to make some shout outs for Mt Creek New Jersey. I just got home after a very fun and successful Freeski Fling. This was my second year doing it and I think this "comp" should be made an example of what the skiing community needs to have in its culture. The slopstyle was setup in 3 different jams that focused on three dif. aspects of the course. There was very little competitive anxiety and everybody was feeding off of everyone elses energy. No one was ragging on styles or dissing tricks, but everyone was havin a good time. People were making friends, helping each other out with tricks and throwing out compliments on others tricks. The level of riding was all across the board as there were riders just learing to slide their first rails to dudes throwin down 270's in and out of every rail. The first heat was on a choice of upbox or high rail to hip, followed by a session on a choice of two down rails followed by a flat box, and the whole slopestyle ended with a session on a niceee table. The tricks that I think won the comp included sw rodeos, nines and even a ten. No one was bitter about others tricks, results, etc...and smiles were seen on all faces. Music, an emcee, locals, and free drinks were all thrown in the mix to liven up the feel of the event. I didnt get a chance to see the pipe comp but I herd the pipe was in pretty bad shape. Ask anyone who went to the event and you will surely findout that they had an awesome time and werent the least bit upset that they spent their saturday in NEW JERSEY. Even though I'm spending my night most likely in due to a sore back, today was one the most fun days I've had skiing all year and people should take note of why Mt Creek put together the comp it did and why it is and was a positive example of what the freeskiing community was/is and should be.
