Mt baldy, CA, is reopening

up in Maine it’s snowed a couple of times In April and we are getting more tomorrow night. I do have to drive, I take real extra caution in my car by myself and at the mountain it’s about 10 people if that sharing 240 acres. It’s probably the lowest risk activity humanely possible from a virus perspective.

...a lot of fucking "heart and dedication"? It shows a lot of selfishness and stupidity that you fucks continue to advocate to ski during a goddamn pandemic. We just passed 50k deaths in the USA, wake tf up. Unless you can literally hike out your front door to ski a patch of low risk snow then theres no real argument for it not being the selfish choice rn. Where has this "phenomenal" hike season been for you, do you have to drive to get to get to it?

The vast majority of virus deaths are from the elderly in hospice/ assisted/ nursing facilities, not exactly the clientele that will be skiing ungroomed black diamond ski runs.

Yes, lots of people have died from the virus, but you need to look deeper in the numbers. Same goes for Italy, yes they a high number of deaths, however, that’s not from a poor quality health system of people being careless. That’s from having one of the oldest population in the world which also means its population has a weaker immune system.

I have a new pair of Full Tilts mondo size 27.5 if someone can prove to me that someone who skied at Baldy recently caught the virus while following county and ski resort distancing/ mask rules.

Excuse me, I need to go get some essential items at Target since everything at Target is essential. Frosty paws, a GoPro, a SD card, external hard drive, frozen pizza, shaving cream, boba tea, playing cards with pictures of famous playas, a WuTang CD, jello and Finlandia vodka are so far on my essential items list.

Once again it's not about catching corona going down a trail, but 1 that shit isn't essential, and 2 people travel huge distances to ski. But you don't logic so whatever.

People being salty cunts about this end of seeing are almost hilarious. Get over it. It's been almost 6 weeks of constant bitching from peope who probably barely even ski spring.

I hope nobody gets a dime out of the lawsuits. Douchey jerrr dads can fuck off.

nobodies stupid enough to think that you can't socially distance while actually skiing, I really hope thats not what you think we're arguing here...

unless you can literally teleport to the top of the hill from your house and back, than everything involving skiing makes it unnecessary and selfish to do so rn, and people are either too stupid to comprehend that, or too selfish to accept it and do it anyway. You stop at a gas station to pump gas cuz you're driving uphill and burnin up the rest of your tank? Touch the gas pump and cc slot and potentially spread. You're on the lift and you sneeze and it covers the saftey bar and potentially spread. You heading back down from skiing and more hungry than you thought so you stop for takeout instead of eating home, get a little too close when making your order and potentially spread while speaking. Suddenly have to take a shit so you just go into the restaurant bathroom and touch all kinds of stuff, potentially spreading...you get the point. None of those choices would be made if you didn't ski, not a hard concept to understand

no no no no no, fuck off. Golf courses are equally as unnecessary rn especially when carts are still allowed at a lot of them...wtf??? Resorts should absolutely not follow suit. The "hope" you feel will dwindle when all these stupid unnecessary businesses open/stay open and further add to the infection spread, and further set back the time until "normal", you can't have your cake and eat it too

ok now you're just further proving you're retarded thinking coconut water is in any way junk food like the rest of the shit you listed, not even remotely close....smh

goddamn thank you for being voices of reason in here, feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading some of the horseshit posted in here. Totally agree with all you two are saying. It's obvious the second a place like A Basin opens up (which they're hoping to) all of Denver/SLC/anywhere remotely close will all travel to come ski, that shit is beyond unacceptable and most obviously unnecessary. There is nothing necessary about skiing, thats the cold hard truth.

Before you click that downvote button take a second to ponder how necessary skiing really is as a vaccine is currently ~18 months out and the federal government is literally seizing PPE shipments from states that are desperately running out, healthcare workers putting their fucking lives on the line with shit for protection so your entitled ass can ski again in late April. If you still disagree go fuck yourselves you selfish fucking assholes

Sounds like they're doing it as responsibly as possible, but seems weird timing in a state that had more daily new cases than all but the 10 hardest-hit countries in the world did yesterday. The discussion in this thread really seems to illustrate why the USA has the most cases and deaths in the world by a still increasing margin, despite an almost 3 month lead time to prepare. So many "individuals" trying to live their best lives through a global pandemic that is killing thousands of people every day. Rather than accepting your role you try to bend things, find loopholes and come up with excuses for why you should be free to have a normal life.

Like is it really that hard to do your part when lives (and livelihoods) are at stake? I think this is a pretty serious test whether a country that prizes individuality over compassion can really handle a pandemic. Currently that's looking like a pretty hard no.

Shut up dude cases of people in nursing homes should not effect your life.

Yes the fact that invalid people are going to kill every nurse in the country affects all of us but sitting inside with TP isn't the solution.

Not only do you sound like a delightful human being (supporting evidence for my comment on compassion - yes I actually do give a shit about our elderly), but you'd have to be pretty boring to not be able to find some joy in things that are much lower risk to others.

For example, drinking beer on chat or outside close to home (with homies +2m away it's really not that bad), making beer or literally any other shit which will give skills you can keep doing for the rest of your life, talking to homies/family because everyone's got each other's backs in this, editing ski footy, making music, reading books, building a summer setup (then filming and editing). They're all pretty much downgrades from their best version, but they're ways to get by while still contributing to the greater good.

People in nursing homes are getting it from somewhere, and chances are it's from people who think they're not the problem. Also ~30% of the deaths in the USA are people under 65. Hardly all in nursing homes. Easy to jump on the fact that yes, the elderly are tragically overrepresented in the death count, but that remaining third could literally be anyone. Why let yourself be responsible for that?

Do you have downs I mean I don't want to pick on you or anything?
