oh baby :)

pretty sure another person died in a treewell there yesterday.

3rd in-bounds death this season.

Treewells are super dangerous right now as is the avie danger.

stay safe.

they shut down a run at my hill (manning park bc... happens to be called treewell) because of avalanche danger, it's really dangerous right now in bc/wa.

the weather in the PNW this year is definitely better than last, but the freezing level keeps hovering on the fringe. At hood, we keep getting dumps, but then it will rain for a day and ruin it all. Then the next day snow again, and then rain. But after 2004/2005 I can't complain.

Three inbounds deaths in a season. Wow. I was pretty sketched out after one in recent memory at Bridger.

yah...fernie usually get's what baker gets a couple days later..here's where were standing..

Overnight: 14 cm / 6 in

Week: 128 cm / 50 in

24 Hour: 14 cm / 6 in

Snow Pack: 282 cm / 111 in

48 Hour: 24 cm / 9 in

Year to Date: 496 cm / 195 in

certainly is the case.

1/11 was epic practically. but today was 35 degrees and barely snowing, but in the greater scheme of things: it kicks ass.

i just about fell in a fuckin tree well... trying to make my way out of this thicket pretty much... stop, go, jump around tree... stopped too fast and fell over... almost went into a well head first... it was such a mellow, mundane little mistake but it was terrifying, cause if id kept sliding id probably have gotten stuck and suffocatged and no one wouldve found me for... a long long time.

a littl update for today

Other Info

We continue to get significant amounts of snowfall and this unusual winter storm pattern has brought Mt. Baker 100 inches of snow (over 8 feet) since this past Monday. According to records from at least the past 30 years, the ski area has not received this amount of snow in such a short time. . .not even in our World Record snowfall year!

Due to the tremendous snowfall and persistently warm temperatures, THE SKI AREA WILL REMAIN CLOSED SATURDAY JANUARY 14TH.

The good news is that the temperature has started to drop ( a little bit anyway) in the past few hours and the snowfall might lighten up a bit today allowing us to continue to do avalanche control work and let the tremendous new snowpack settle out a bit.

WE DO ANTICIPATE REOPENING A PORTION OF THE SKI AREA ON SUNDAY JANUARY 15th if the expected cooling trend continues today. Check back later this afternoon for more details on this report or at 360-671-0211."

see ya there on sunday, gonna be sweet

when we had a shitty snow year, i don't think anything pissed me off more than threads like these. but washington is epic this year, so i'm a pretty happy camper.

are you fucking kidding me? backer has the world record for snowfall sweet cheeks. stop being a dumb woman and educate yourself.
