MSU Bozeman 2016

it should be cheaper to rent off campus, way cheaper if you watch how much you spend on food and utilities. If you dont want to be stuck with a transfer student, do as the rest of the people in this thread appear to be doing: stay in roskie. Ive lived in roskie this year and its been pretty cool, pretty much everyone skis and partys.

Sounds cool!

Though, if living off-campus is cheaper... Why not team up with 10 other guys and just rent a house, skip school, go skiing all the time and live the 4bi9 life or something like that. Sounds way better than living in a dorm tbh...

well im getting a place with a few friends, we had one lined up through craigslist, but that didnt work out so just looking for ads and stuff. Im sure you can find people looking to rent out a room on craigslist or try and set something up on here with other people going to MSU

Ok, but is it hard to get a room? Do you need like months to get one or is it fairly easy?

Also, how much is rent (more or less) everything included (gas/electricity/water/internet) if you live in a normal house, nothing fancy?

That's ok.

So anyone up for living with moi? Ski 'erryday (or at least a LOT), party and what not. Rather live off- than on-campus I think.

How cool would it be to just live with several guys...!

im assuming your paying out of state for MSU, probabley worth while to keep your head on that for a bit while skiing as much as possible. also, it sounds like theres a ton of skis who shred at the school, you may not even need to live off campus to find kids who are down to ski all time time (i sure am). either way im sure itll be a blast, and i cant really give any help as to where to stay off campus

Out of state - yeah. But I'm a transfer student so I pay tuition fees for my own university here in the Netherlands. Fucking banger. Tuition is 'only' 1600€ (2000$ or so) a year.

oh and i learned the roskie room assignment thing. each pod is the zeros like 501-508 or however many rooms there are in the pod, then its the teens, which is like 510-517, and the 20s which is 520-527

Me going to MSU basically hinges on my SAT score, if I score over an 1850 I will get enough financial aid to make it financially plausible without taking student loans up the ass.

If not, Western Washington U here I come.

Taking it for the first time on Saturday since I'm only a junior, wish me luck!

Well re-evaluating my grades it might not look like i kept the grades enough to keep my scholarship to even go to MSU next year. Ill know for sure in the next week or two.

Should've dropped chem when i had the chance, the C killed my GPA.

is there any way to get like a big sky, moonlight and bridger pass all in one? it would be sick to not have to carry around 3 passes.

Okay, so I feel like this has already been covered, but I'm too lazy to read 3 pages right now. What cell service covers best at bozeman/surround areas and particularly on campus? Looking into getting a new phone/service so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

verizon and at&t both work well. people seem to think verizon is better, but i've never had any problem with at&t.

Doubt anyone is interested but I'm so stoked! I got a 1950 my first time on the SAT sk I will most likely be going to MSU!!! If I get over 2140 I will 100% be headed to MSU. Not taking it again until next October though. Plenty of time to prep.

No I'm pretty damn sure I will be accepted. But they give financial aid based on SAT scores and if I get a 2140 I will get 15k a year thus allowing me to afford to go there without ending up 40k in the hole for student loans.

I was thinking about getting a pass at Bridger.

Except for the lack of park, Bridger sounds sick. Being able to go skiing 5 days a week at Bridger sounds awesome. Wouldn't it suck to be only able to ski if you got a lot of hours of off school? Big Sky is an hour drive right?

thats one of the main reasons i was disappointed with big sky last year. I always took the bus on the weekends, which meant i couldnt sleep past around 7. Would have been awesome to just ride whenever I felt like it, which is why im probably riding bridger next season. Also I just like the terrain at bridger (schlasmans lift or whatever it is) and the vibe is a lot better. Big sky has the pre season and post season covered since they have a decent park that keeps getting better.

Why are all you MSU go-ers opting for Big Sky? Aren't you bothered that it's really hard to go skiing during weekdays and that it's so far away?

Of course it is. Skiing is always awesome. No matter what and where.

But skiing 4/5 days a week at bridger vs 2 at big sky... Hmm...

Right now I'm thinking about getting a mid-week pass for Bridger and then a season pass at Moonlight for weekends or when I'm off or something. How is Moonlights park compared to Big Sky's?

you lived in big sky last year, and were not an msu goer. Obviously if you live in big sky, why go to bridger? Pretty much the way i sum it up: the people who are always talking on ns ski at big sky, the people who let their skiing do the talking are at bridger.

untrue, they are folk who shred hard at both mountains.

there are benefits to both resorts, but seriously man, moonlight and big sky are where it's at no doubt.
