I work for RAGE and I like the MSP teaser. What part of the riding was weak, old, or played out?

Ya, maybe the hate will turn some more sales our way, but shit their movie looks dope.

Either way, were all out there trying our best to please you guys.

What I mean is as we get older so will the athletes, and I'm sure we'll hate hearing the future young kids slagging off the Tanners or Hugo's.

Everyone in this business is along for a short ride, including MSP, Poor Boyz and TGR.

Trends and styles will fade, and eventually what's cool now eventually won't be.

All I'm saying is that instead of the negativity on this board, let's enjoy it.

I don't know if you remember when Trevor Peterson died, but that day will remind me to make sure we're always having a good time.

As for Brad holmes, he's the reason alot of todays athletes are still kickin' it.

He's always been a pioneer, and trend setter....even as his segments get shorter and shorter with every film.

I like all the movie companies for different reasons, and if they all tried to do the same thing it would get boring. I liked High five last year, not in a skiing way but in a music video way. It was entertaining. I liked Soul Purpose because it had lots of stuff from Utah in it. Yearbook was good because they traveled all around the world and had progressive camera work. NASM good stuff, interesting editing concepts. Wski, too wiggerish, lame cept for Cr's Segment. Wicked, boring skiing, great editing like watching an eccentric ski movie. Stimulus, lots of shit in my backyard which is always a plus, some no namers, very good variety of skiing disiplines.

What I'm getting at here is every movie company has a little something different to offer. Just because you like a particular kind of film, doesn't mean that other films shouldn't be around. How boring would it be if only two ski movies came out a year. L1p and PBP or whoever it is you jibbers are rooting for today. Most of you younglins need to learn to be tolerant of other aspects of the sport. I don't randomly knock on dumb wiggers that walk around the tram deck looking like monkies and acting hard. It's their thing, they arn't asking me to do it so why should I care.

I like the artsy shots with the dusk background, only thing is, Abma did the exact same rodeo in the same slow motion last year in Yearbook. It was cool then, but I'm not shelling out to see more of the same.

yeah, a lot of the recent trailers have been all artsy, basically, every teaser to come out after white shine, wishes it was white shine.

basically, they are good with camera angles and produce top quality looking films. But yes they have a very high budget and take footyage from other people and brag about there "awards." I will see there movie yet i havent purchased one of there movies since ski movie 3...that top 10 list on why not to buy it is very true...seriously Darron Rahlves?....Bleh

Ok, MSP is simply getting "oldschool" now. Repetitive, not nearly as creative as the new East-coast prods, but its a whole different generation of skiers and producers. They do have Pollard, Pep, and others in their movies, but can't quite stand up for it in the music, editing, and such... Amazing skiing nonetheless, great footage, I will see this movie.

if you don't like MSP, then don't buy it. I personally hate MSP videos, but we don't have to start 5 different forums on this topic. Put your 20$ towards a real production company like Berman at Level 1 or really small companys like Aftermath (black ink is gonna be SICK) So if you don't like MSP, don't buy the movie, but atleast help our industry grow

 
Not buying MSP is similar to helping out industry grow. In fact, the mass slaughter of everyone employed by that company would be helping our industry grow. And that's pretty goddamn sad.

How are these east coast "prods" so creative? Over editing and sub-par skiing in sub-par locations, thats pretty creative yes, but not in a good way

For what its worth, I thought that teaser was dope.

Love 'em or hate 'em, everyone needs to agree that MSP puts out some of the most progressive footage out there. Well done Riley, Steve, Murray, and crew. Props boys.

 
i jsut wasn't digging the teaser, nothing blew my mind in it, and it was... need i say, boring.

granted, they most likely have the best equipment with the best facility for editing, so the quality of film is high, but they have no soul. and that is what makes something good. you can throw all the money you have into it but it doesn't mean you made a masterpiece. by all standards it may look good, but it is nothing really new and creative.

there are other companies out there that have soul, and you see that in the athletes, the skiing, the editing, and all around feel. they may not have the best equipment or budget, b ut they make movies you can watch over and over and still get hyped on life and stoked and what not

i just won't ever like msp if they continue with this style.

that is my opinion.

random thought..., what would the ripple be like if msp got off ski movies, would we lose out on anything or would it just simply mean no msp flick and thats it. As much as I know they dont contribute much, but thats as far as I know, which isn't all that far ...
