MS Open

Thats retarded there should be no judges game to play. There should be constancy from one slope comp to another even if they were completely unrelated. This would be the case if someone was judging that knew what they were doing. The point is you shouldn't have to listen to the judges to see what they are looking for, they should be looking for the same things judges look for in any other pro semi pro level slop comp. Kids come to a comp and want to throw tech tricks but not sacrifice style. Style and fluidity of run should be a major aspect of the judging criteria like it is in most slope comps. sure a stezy 3 is not going to beat a sorta sketchy 10 but something like a switch steazy cab 7 should beat a hucked cab 10. But these type of judges don't understand that and thats why they should not have been judging. The fact that you bought into their bullshit and posted anything in support of that judging is fucking stupid.

today i rode with kolby and he said he threw really steezy tricks that werent super tech. from this thread, i think he is being way looked over. sure the judging might have been close but he came out on top and he deserves more recognition. at the beginning, people didn't even know who got first but they knew who got second and third.

Ok smart guy... You take the lead and write the list of what beats what and I will help promote/distribute it. Consistency you want, then consistency you should have. rather than saying something is retarded, take the initiative to correct it. You seem to know what is right and what is wrong.

Write it up !

Thanks for your help..

Who, whoa, whoa! While the judging may have been bad, I'm not going to say the top 3 didn't deserve to be there and they "weren't stylie." As far as saying that rodeo 5's don't score well, let me direct your attention to Giray Dadali who placed third and was throwing beautiful rodeos all day long. I mean, hell, the Dadalis should put a trademark on their rodeos. They're retarded-ly good (since we're using big adjectives, I decided I would too!) Just because a few people were robbed (Shea Flynn does come to mind) doesn't mean we should debate what's better. I'm sorry but a full and fluid run along with something different (think Gagnier's one footed slide in his X win) will always take the cake. I was stoked to see the towers filled with judges because it means everyone was being judged on the full course. Sure they may not have been the most experienced but they're never going to get experience judging a comp to proper standards unless they start, umm, judging?

Congrats to all the competitors and I'll see you this weekend at Loon where the judging will sure to bad and no one will have fun...

Check out freeskier.com, oh wait...don't bother. They've got a few shots up, but none of people actually skiing. =)

There is constancy when the judges are not from the USSA or FIS generally people who have alot of experience competing in and watching slope know what should win, sure theres some arguments about who has better style, but overall judging at major events seems to be somewhat decent. However this event is an exception. So no i wont "write it up" you should know what beats what. The fact that your siding with a bunch of FIS judges is stupid. But its probably just cause your mad old.

The judges didnt even know what any rail tricks were at all, they were just watching with no clue what was going on. They litterally didnt even know what a switch up was...

I think you guys are contradicting your own statements in a way. Why would you want judging to be consistent? If judging varies from comp to comp, it gives different people a shot at winning. If judging varies, then you may win a comp with steezy 7s and stuff. Then another comp may be won by dope 10s and such with tech shit. This allows for the progression of our sport and a broader amount of people slaying the comp scene. you should listen to the judges before comps so you know what kind of comp it is. Like a ussa comp will prolly be technical. Loon this weekend where its judged by fellow newschoolers will be steeezeeeeeeeeee

thankyou giray, you and others up at the top know whats up and what you have to do. Its your business to know! :)

giray, i agree with what your saying, but this simply wasnt the case.

the judging was fucked. you, chris, and a few others definitly deserved to be up there but the scores were so inconsistent theres no way to say where anyone should have been.

max did the EXACT same rail run both runs and got scored like ten points better by the first 2 judges on one run.

the judges had no idea what they were seeing and 1080bio is right on.

to the organizers and anyone else involved it was definitly an awsome time and the conditions were amazing for a comp back east. good show to the riders but the judging should not be discussed like it was in any way uniform, even from run to run.

I'll write it up! it goes pair, 2 pair, 3 of a kind, straight, flush, fullhouse, 4 of a kind, straight flush, cab 12

PeterTosh - you and the rest of the NS community aren't the only ones frustrated with the judging of most events. Myself and some others are hoping to put some stuff together this summer to help us get the right judges at all of the big and even medium events next year. It's time we take more control over our sport.

Thats really good to hear, most of the time you don't hear anyone trying to do anything to fix the problem they see. Usually they just come here and vent about it, this doesn't really help the problem at all. Its nice to see someone taking initiative for once, good luck
