mp3 players

mp3 players are way better than mini disc players, I'd say got the apple Ipod if you can, it can be used on PC's, just look up how to do in on the internet if your gonna get it. It holds like 5gigs of music, thats crazy

I have a rio mp3 player and my friend has a minidisk, he wishes he would of got a mp3 player...here are some reasons why mp3 players are better

1. MINIdisk players are as big as a walkman ---- The biggest of Mp3 players is as big as a pack of cards...NOT BIG at all.

2. MINIdisk players have DISKS you have to carry around, not cool. Some mp3 players can hold 5 gigs of music(over 1,000 songs!), and can transfer all of that in just 3 minutes, AND are still only as big as a pack of CARDS.

3. MP3 players can transfer music quick and easy. mini disk players you have to record on to disks just like tapes...not cool.

PLUS mp3 players can have as good of quality songs as CD's...it just depends on the Bitrate..you always want a bitrate of 160+ on the songs that you download.

yah, those are the reasons why i want one. Only problem is i won't have computer out west, so whatever songs i put in, i'm stuck with for the season...but i doubt i'd get sick of a 1000 songs.

Those of you that have them, which one do you have and what do you think if it?

Ive got a creative NOMAD its holds tons of songs and is lightweight. There is a smaller one or bigger the gigger costs 700 and the smaller costs 200.

yea mp3 player all the way, i bought one that holds 6 gigs of songs for 220. Id get the permament harddrives though compared to the ones where oyu can switch them in and out, those are way to expensive and dont hold many songs

I like skiing

i wish i had the transfer rate that you had t-lo! Cuz as far as i know firewire can't transfer 5 gigs that fast...Check out this for the expected transfer rates of firewire and the new usb 2.0

Take It All

im getting one of the new mini disc players that have netmd. no more real time transfer rate!! check em out at minidisco.com

What the Fuck are you talking about T-Lo, go to sleep on the train tracks, Mini Disc Players are soooo tiny and each disc can hold 2 CDs ( I have a dope one). MP3 Players can only hold like 15 songs, and they arn't durable at all. They are basically a Mini Computer Hard Drive. I had the NOMAD Juke Box MP3 player which held like 100 hours of music (over 1000 songs) but it was bigger than an antique CD player and weight sooooooooooooooo Fucking much, like 2-3 pounds. Mini Disc Players are perfect for skiing too. They are small and the discs are way more durable than Cds and so are the players. Also if you don't have a burner, THEY RECORD, and unlike the first ones that came out which recorded in real time... 60 min for 60 mins of music... the new ones record at 32x... less than 2 mins for 60 mins of music.

THEY ARE SO MUCH BETTER

yo whistlermann, i think your lost. Ever heard of the Apple I pod? obviously you havent, it has a 10 GIG harddrive, that means it holds about 2000 songs. It's about as big as a deck of cards, here are the EXACT sizes, Height: 4.02 inches (102 mm)

Width: 2.43 inches (61.8 mm)

Depth: 0.78 inches (19.9 mm)

Weight: 6.5 ounces (185 g)

pretty damn SMALL.

pretty awesome, to see all the specs goto www.apple.com/ipod and where do you get 2-3 pounds? i think your sniffin crack. 6.5 ounces is not even close to 3 pounds. and who wants to carry a bunch of little disks around with them? minidisk players suck. later

Wait you can use an Ipod on PC? I need to get one then. My friend has one and it took him 25 minutes to tranfer 950 songs. Thats not bad at all because each song is aprox 3 minutes so that would be 2850 minutes or 47.5 hours on a minidisc not including the time and effort changing the disc every hour!

yes you CAN use the IPOD on PC's....you just can't use the actually IPOD software, you have to use some other program, and you have to have firewire. you can find some info on the net i'm sure. Not many people know that you can use an IPOD on a PC...next year they are making a more compatible one, that will come with software to sue on PC's. later

If you try to fail, but succeed anyway, what did you just do?

Fear is the mind killer!

yea it is kinda sketchy, but it does work. Next year they are going to make it way more compatible, not to mention sony is making a MP3 player that is very similar
