ok so i lost my mp3 player. it was a 5gb samsung hy-820 or something like that. and now im looking for a new one. i prefer it to be under $300, and have at least 5gb. i looking at some on ebay. i bid on an iriver. if i dont get the iriver, and other one should i get, either ebay or buy it new.

my ipod died on me last nite, it was wiered it just started going super slow and the scrren said that the battery need to be charged but i just charged it!

dude u missed it, like a week ago they had a deal with the dells and i got a 20g dell dj for like $200. Its really sweet. I suggest one, even though they are more expensive now. You wont be dissapointed

get the dell dj i've herd some weak things about ipods so i would stay away from them if i were you i rivers are good to but if i were u i would deffinately go with the dell dj

yes and there is no possible way that any other mp3 player has as much memory as an ipod. jeez people are idiots. i really like the RIO interface, but they lack accesories and firmware updates. my RIO Karma just broke so im in the market too. im hoping there will be a replacement for the Karma because i really need 20 gigs. the 5 or 6 just wont cover me.

please dont buy an ipod - apaprt from their simple function (for all the dumb asses out there) they are flwed in every aspect:

Sony HD5 - simple like an iod but 40 hourse battery life

Creative zen micro, or zen 20 gig

Cowon iAudio X5

iriver h320

I am going to get the sony hd5. If i wanted colour screen and more feature I would get the X5. if i wanted more features but no colour screen I would get a zen

ipods have the best durability out of all of the mp3 players. if you are going to ski that would be your best bet. they are the easiest to use with the touchwheel and itunes. and if you have trouble with it you can just bring it to the apple store and get a brand new one. i had one problem where it wouldnt upload any new music and i brought it to the apple store they told me what happend and they gave me a new one in like 3 days max.

 
I'll stick to my 128Mb noname MP3 player over an Ipod anyday. just look at how many threads and responces there are about how everyones ipod has this problem or that.

you have to remember that there has been about 100X as many ipods sold as any other mp3 player, so of course you're gonna hear about more problems but thats only because there are so many more of them out there...

The ipod as the ideal mp3 player for skiing is utter bullshit. you're talkigna bout stomping tricks with a portable hard drive spinning in your pocket. its a matter of time before it goes apeshit and dies, then you go to your precious warranty for another ipud.

the best mp3 players for sking are flash drive based ones. no internal moving parts.

and id really have to go with creative mp3 players. they have been in the market much longer than apple (remember the first creative labs NOMAD?) and have many more years than that int he sound industry.

But dont listen to me morons, go buy your cornucopia of colors i pud minis because "they're so cuuuuttteeeee1!!oenone1!!!

and the ipud thing is from redvsblue. dunno if anyone watches that.

 
bullshit, bullshit and more bullshit. the new 30gb ipod photo has either a 16 or 18 hour battery, it IS removable, just not by any schmuck. ease of use both on the actual device and on the program, iTunes. it's by far the easiest one to organize your shit with. and how about a kick ass warranty. i've had mine for a year now and i've never had any trouble. Still has another year under warranty.

you said bulshit 3 times... but i believe they do not have an fm tuner or WMA compliance - therefore it is not bullshit - it is indeed true... in conclusion you should shut your ignorant pie hole. If you want to contribute then do it constructively and get your facts right.

ipods dont have the best durability. They (ipod and competitors), which are all hard-drive players, is just like skiing with your laptop. Damage occurs when the hard drive is spinning and recieves an impact. The only current hard drive player (that I am aware of) that protects this is sonys HD5 due to their g shock technology which disengages the hard drive. I have a rio carbon and its great. Great bat life and very small. My friend has a 20gb iriver w/ a color screen which he got for 300. The color screen is pretty cool but the controls kinda suck and it lags alot when your are just switching songs.

 
have you had any problem with hard drive failure? I heard a few people bitching about them having problems

 
DUDE, get the iriver. I've had mine since XMAS and i've had no problems at all...the battery last forever. i have 20gigs, color screen, am/fm tuner, can download pics to it and files, can record stuff into the mic.

I had an ipod a while ago and that thing is crap compared to the iriver. and the iriver is cheap compared to the ipod.

i have the Iriver H320 and it's good, but I am gonna look at the iAudio players next. Check it out. I think it's iaudio.com. Their new 20gig does it all, from movies, to photos to recording, it can run on linux. The features are amazing, it makes the ipods look like pieces of swass. I absolutely hate ipods as well. Everyone has them, they are very cliche. It's just a trend thing going right now. Support the harder working smaller companies instead.
