unlike CO which gets the majority of thier revenue from vacation skiers, Tahoe relies on weekend day trippers from the Bay...cheap day ticket prices to lure em in
squaw 55
alpine 39
but their passes are stupid expensive...
nstar midweek is about 299 best value but other then nice rails the hill is flatter than a 12 year old girl
im thinking kirkwood for terrain, anyone know how much a season pass ther is? and i ski lots of park, so whats a good pass for park is heavenly any good cause i can get a deal on that?
There is no discount for UNR students at Alpine, you just have to be in the young adult age group for that pass which is cheaper than the Adult pass. N* is about 35 min's from Reno.
Also, Heavenly and Kirkwood are pretty far away if you are living here in Reno. You will pay a shit load of money for gas if you get a pass to one of the south shore resorts.
Buy both apsses at Northstar and Alpine. You'll get 3 resorts for just $450 and you'll have access to the best park in Tahoe along with the best resort accessed BC in Tahoe.

squaw is hands down the best mountain. every year, the park gets better and better, and it has the best backcountry by ten times for the december storms

alpines pass is 399$ if you are 22 and under. it was 199$ last year
if you are living in reno, you should think about rose which is 30min away, alpine, or northstar. squaw is ridiculously expensive. heavenly's awesome if you live in south lake and like tourists... the park is getting really fun though. boreal is going to have a sick park this year. i'm thinking about getting a night pass for 99$... uh ya i can't wait to ski!!

I drove by the boreal parking lot yesterday...you should see the rails and boxes they are constructing...gonna be a good season for the jibrats in truckee
it doesnt matter if squaws backcountry is in bounds or out of bounds, its the best terrain in tahe if you dont want to go to donner. back on granite and silverado is untouched all season

i'm surprised no one mentioned mt. rose. it isn't the biggest but it's definitely the closest to reno and doesn't suck up all the crowds on powder days like squaw and alpine. plus they opened the chutes now so there's more terrain to find. i'm guessing their prices aren't too bad. can't be worse than tahoe.
squaw is closed to BC but you can always get lines off the ridge that you take to smoothies near granite. i've met a lot of people who've gone back there but not me personally. all the other BC around squaw you have a good chance of getting caught.
The only BC at squaw is off of KT and Headwall, but you better know Troy and the partrollers cause your gonna get arrested if you dont have permission cause its all privately owned. The coulior behind KT that drops towards Alpine is sick in the spring, but loads up like a fat dude at a buffet after storms....bettre know whatcha doing on that side of the hill....
Skiing is cool! its getting colder at night up here too,,,, winter is fast approaching ok at leat fall is almost hur. All this talk about alpine is giving me a Hard on.
Waynewong. The Alpine "young adult" pass is $200 and the Northstar double whammy college pass is $250. If you aren't in college sign up for classes get your college ID then drop your classes, get your money back, and take your new college ID. The resorts alwayssay they want to see a transcript but they are full of shit, you just need a college ID.

haha dude i love reno i moved here 2 years ago and its seriously the best place ever... college town, city nightlife and skiin is nice and close. annnnddddd ummm best terrain park in tahoe will definatley be BOREAL with over 100 features to hit from the second you get off the lift right down to the parkin lot. All mountain experience would be Alpine Meadows.... northstar doesnt have anything on jibbassic this year

Boreal has $10 fridays and with night skiing too which is a good deal Mt. Rose is only $30 if you show them your pass from another mnt. I had a pass at alpine and rose last year and it was awesome. But you should work at a mnt for 2 days a week after working there a month they will refund your money for the pass and thats only 8 days of work
