Moving to Omaha, what are my options this winter?

So i have never even been to NE before, but my fiance found a really good job out there and we decided to move. She is already there and once i finish tying up all our loose ends i will be heading out there too.

Point of my thread is as the title states, what are my options? Should i get a pass at the little mtn near by in iowa (forget the name sorry) or plan a few trips to co or somewhere else?

Like i said i am super unfamiliar with the area so any suggestions would be nice. I am used to living 20-30 mins from the hill and being able to just go up anytime on a whim whenever i want. Man i will miss that lol.

Thx in advance

Ouch. In SD they have Great Bear, which I heard is like... 500 feet long. Which is also next to the biggest city in South Dakota.

I wish I could give you some good news. I moved to Omaha from New England almost 3 years ago. There is no good skiing in this area. I usually make a few trips to Colorado a year. I also do ski a Mt. Crescent in Iowa. That is the best around unfortunately. PM me some time if you want to rip it. Any questions I will be happy to answer.

get divorced. ski pow. jk

Mt Crescent is just 15 minutes from Omaha and can be fun. I'd plan on taking some trips out west

I was out in Omaha earlier this year for the College World Series and we were bored so we went and checked out Mt. Crescent one morning.. Simply from looking at it from the base it doesn't seem like a bad place... Honestly, not much different than a lot of the small places we have around Boston. There was one or two trails that actually looked pretty steep (for Iowa... It's all relative). I don't know about the park obviously cause I was there during summer.

Mt. Crescent is the only choice near by, but they guys who own it couldn't give two shits about the park so if you're looking to do that your best choice would be to plan to travel out to CO pretty frequently or as much as you can. That's what I do and I live in Lincoln.
