I am moving to NYC for work and I was wondering what are the closet and best mountains for me to check out. I ski all over the mountain and park. Any info on what mountains have good steeps, tress, park really a decent break down would help so I know where I should check out. Im gonna be living in Hoboken NJ so even close jersey mountains would help. Im gonna be moving up there around december so I wanna get a good list together. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thxs

Mountain Creek is the closest it has a good park but other then that it sucks, BIg Boulder is also kinda close but its also only park. Hunter and Windam in NY are around 2 1/2 hours they are ok. If you have the time for a few days i would say just go to vermont. Stratton is only about 3 1/2 if you drive fast, and mt snow is also not that far. i personally like to go to killy, kinda far but i say its worth it. i live in jersey and ski mountain creek everyday. where are you from and what are you used to skiing b/c if your form out west you will be highly dissapointed.

^ That man hit it perfectly.

Mountain Creek will definitely be the closest, and one of the better parks. But your still not too far from windham, hunter, bellayre, and the PA mountain.

Im from philaldephia so I know what its like to ski on shit mts. but I was hoping maybe there would be something slightly better then the crap in Pa. My home mt. is Bear creek so I was hoping to find something w/ at least some decent trails b/c some days I just enjoy cruising.

i'm pretty sure it would take longer than that unless you were going REALLy fast. i drove NYC to boston in about 4 hours doing 85 the whole way. so i'm gonna have to guess it would take closer 40 4.5 or 5 hours

nope. i'm from just outside the city, grew up skiing stratton, and it was a 3 to 3:15 hour drive. mt snow is about 30 minutes closer. hunter on the weekends, particularly saturdays, is a shit show. same with mtn.creek. if you can, just go to vermont for weekend skiing. hunter/windham are fun on the weekdays and both have some decent steeps for east coast. also, jiminy peak, catamount and butternut are relatively close by - 1.5-2.5hrs away. less crowded usually, too.

Stowe, Sugarbush, and MRG are all worth the drive over Mt Snow and the like. At least for snow and interesting terrain, obviously the park is a different story.

i've been stuck living in new york for a while now, and everyone got it about right. make the haul to VT when you can (lower NY mtns are kind of a waste of time).

most importantly - flights from newark to burlington are about $100 round trip.

if you know anyone up there, it's the way to go. about same travel time as driving to stratton on a friday but MUCH better riding.

god damn hoboken is such a shit show, i hope your job is paying u enuff to support the raging alcoholic u will become

but yea, mt creek turned half their mountain into a park this year, its gonna be nuts

hahaha One of the reasons Im choosing to move there is b/c I hear they have some great bars, and some displaced philly people. Make me feel a little at home.
