Moving to New Skis

I just bought a new pair of 170 Surface Double Times and skiied them for the first time today. For the past 3-4 season I've been using 160 AR6s so its been somewhat of a big jump in under foot and length but not crazy and I've grown because the AR6s were feeling small. But yea the new skis felt really like bulky and I felt uncomfortable on them. I'm using these for park but I'm also going on a ski vacation to Whistler in two weeks.

So is it common to feel uncomfortable when switching to new (bigger) skis or did I buy a pair thats too big / not good for park?

 
Yea how tall are you? And what level of a skier are you? Longer skis are faster and harder to control compared to shorter skis so that might be the problem..

I'm 5 8 and ski a 179s
 
yeah it took me a while when i transitioned, because everything is different on different pairs of skis like swing weight
 
5' 8" and I switched this year from 161cm to 178cm and its the greatest thing ever. it'll just take time, you'll eventually like them way more unless its the skis themself, thats why i've found a company i;ve liked and stayed with them for all my skis. (Line)
 
my skis that i use for groomers (don't ski park much) are 164s and thats pretty much the length that i've used for the past 3 or 4 years. i'm 5'7" and weigh 115 and when i bought my hellbents last year i got 179s and i was super nervous about them. i read they skied shorter than normal because of all the rocker they have, and i felt like an idiot on them the first time, but i love them now! i'm sure it just takes some getting used to.
 
I had 150 codas and I moved to 170 Rossignol Storms and I love them, I skied them at COC over the summer and it only took 2 days to get used to them.
 
I just went from some 148's that were way to small to 161's. I noticed the difference for a couple runs and then I got used to them.
 
Do whatever the hell you want its called free skiing for a reason. Just ride whatever feels comfortable. im 6"1 and i ride 166.
 
hahaha... thats what i did too... but i went from some beat to shit 1080 thrusters with demo bindings to alpha 2's with fks's.......
 
I just moved up to bigger skis and it was weird in the beginning but after 3 days im pretty used to them. Just give it some time
