Moving to alberta, any nsers out there?

So I finally got a job 10 mins outside of Edmonton in nisku(lack of work for welders) and other than some family I don't know anybody out there. Anybody on ns out there? Whats there to do for skiing and other sports?

I think a ton in Calgary, not to sure about edmonton, I think Leduc is nearby but im probably wrong. Taco dog is from Leduc I think.

If I'm not mistaken, dosnt Gnarton live in Alberta? I remember seeing him post about living there or something once. Sorry if I'm wrong.. Havent been here all that long.

I ended up getting multiple job offers but I don't know what one to take, Alegro projects and fabrication and garneau industries are the two that offered me positions.

I think he lives in Kelowna, he mentioned how it was a sick place to go to school in a thread.

There are a lot of Ns'ers in Alberta and even more park skiers, it seems that only a small amount of park skiers here actually use NS. Go to Rabbit Hill, you'll probably meet up with lots of skiers.

Also if anyone lives in Lethbridge let me know, I'm going there for school next year and it would be nice to have someone to ski with.

i live in edmonton, theres a ton of nsers here.

as for sports in the summer theres an all year round air bag in calgary and water ramps in redeer. calgary also has a bike park

From Spruce Grove! Rabbit Hill has a decent park for the city and it would be pretty close to you. For any mountain skiing there is Jasper (4hrs away) and Banff (about the same). But also some other mountains.

for skiing theres jasper, banff or lake louise... as far as skiing in edmonton the best place for park skiing is rabbit hill

Yeah I was leaning more towards them anyways, it's better for me cause garneau doesnt have cwb certification and I have two all position cwb tickets. Where do you work man?

didnt realize there was this many alberta folk. If anyone needs car advice ill be happy to give you a hand.

When I had my interviews in nisku, I drove around Sherwood the day after the u of a shooting, cops had the area pretty locked down :p besides that I thought it was a super nice

It's super nice, kinda of a bubble and I sort of hate the small town everyone knows everyone vibe, but I deal. And yeah the kid being from Sherwood Park is super unfortunate, but shit happens and you never know who's going to kill someone until they do it. Don't let that scare you, there's crazy shit everywhere!

i live in jasper, and there is a fair amount of skiing. rabbit hill, snow valley, ESC, twatinaw valley, lots of urban, jasper if you drive, around banff has sunshine, norquay, lake louise, nakiska and a few others. lots of good stuff. biking in the summer at some of those hills too.

roger that. 403 yo.

I know of a few skiers out in lethbridge for who ever was asking but i'm not sure if they're NS'rs or not.

i didnt mind the welding at all. It was more or less the shop and using an angle grinder for 6 hours a day sometimes. It was by far the biggest 2 bit operation i have ever seen. Our break/lunchroom was 3 sheets of plywood built around an exterior door. The door handle of said room was a coat hanger with a bend in it. I am so thankful i quit. I was never really a huge fan of nisku either, its a very depressing place.
