Moving on to bigger jumps

I'm getting used to doing 3's now, but i'm currently only pulling them of on these 10ft jumps. I don't have any problems hitting bigger jumps, but when it comes to spinning of the bigger ones i'm a real chicken. I guess i'm afraid of not coming all the way around, overspinning or just loose control and bail hard. What is the best way to move on to bigger jumps with spinning? any specific kinds of jumps i should look for? and what about the speed? should i go fast enough to definatley make it to the sweet spot, or go just as fast as i need to make it over the gap?

I just started spinning this month, so i'm not that experienced yet..

just get some balls and do it once..i have a simlar problem or used to in the sense that i had a lot of trouble trying something i no i could do on something bigger but once u do it once ull realize its not bad at all and ull be albe to do it a lot more

^yeah, and just get used to hitting bigger jumps with a straight air grab or sometihng, then when you feel totally fine hitting bigger jumps, like when you feel "not scared" or confortable on big jumps, go for the spins. (start low) like 180 though. then 3's.

i cant do 3s on bigger jumps yet either but when i try new stuff i usually just have to go for it once. even if i half ass it and fall i (usually) dont get hurt so the fear is gone

well, here's another side of my problem.. I fell really bad once and got my sholder dislocated. I know i propably won't do that again, but it's in the back of my head every time i'm going for a jump.. really pisses me off, but i can't help it!

That's my problem with rails, i fell on my hip and had the most massive bruise. You just gotta get over it and hit that shit. Don't hesitate at all.

word. u just gotta get back and try it though or its never gonna happen. ive been out for a week cuz i split my knee open on a rail and i still got a few days to go b4 the stitches come out. im just gonna force myself to hit that same rail though on the first day back b/c i know i can grease it. just think of nothing but what it will look like when u stomp it and go in w/ confidence

yah i didnt try any spins off bigger jumps until this year but i juts started going for them and after the first time it wasnt scarry anymore

if you can try and do it on a soft day so it seems less scary

once you figure it out spinning 3's over larger jumps is cake. I imagine you throwing decently hard to get a 3 of that little 10 footer. so when you go to spin something larger just make sure you come up to the jump in a good athletic stance with a wide base because this will make you spin look better and help you spin slower. If you do these things right all there is to is just getting a good pop off the lip and spin the 3 with you whole body not just you upper body. After that just spot for the landing at 270, stomp it and ride off all steezed out. After you get comfortable with that try incorperating some grabs into the spin for more steeze.

spinning on jumps makes them seem smaller, or well makes you feel more comfortable in the air, i forget what actuall law of physics it is, but you spinning in the air gives you more balance than a simple straight air, same way as if your jumping a snowmobile you hit the break in the air to help bring the front end down

but anyways, just go for it, dont set you spin until you're in the air, if you try to huck it your going to overrotate

yo me too

i really only spun off mad small jumps (like 10 foot) for awhile.

then 3 days ago i just tried a 15 foot kicker and stomped it.

so then i tried it over like a 25 foot kicker and almost landed it

so yeah, just work your way up.

honestly, i find it hurts less most of the time on bigger jumps as long as you land in the sweet spot. the more speed you have the better definitely.just balls up and do it,, and i almost guarantee a fall wont hurt as much as you think at all.

work your way up and just commit. Straight air the bigger jumps first and get used to them, then hit the jump and pop, then be confident.

I'm much more balanced spinning over bigger jumps than straight airing them. I'll straight air them once in case I case them, then I'll spin off them from there on.

lets say i'm going of a 20ft jump and going for 3, should i throw my arms around or just pop and look over my shoulder?

Don't throw it too hard... you'll end up overrating.

Hit the jump once, and you'll find it's not actually that bad.

Just go for the corked 9.....nah, just look and rotae slow....maybe put in a grab to control the possible flailing issue

whuddya mean by big like 60-70 (my deff. of kinda big to big) or 20-30?

20-30 is easy i just went for it and stomped it you'll do the same

just try not to think about anything until you get to the lip of the jump and then when yur there theres no stopping and itll be easier to throw. also try counting to three and then go but at the 3 u always have to go or it doesnt work

Find some big natural hit in the pow pow. Try a 3 into the powder and hike it. THen move terrain park
